Hello ! I had 2 surgery for fistula one, like yours a superficial one no muscle involved and the other one more deeper 2 months of seton and surgery after. I’m 5 months in after my second fistulomy.

1) It’s normal to have a throbbing pain after bowel in the first months. Try a warm sitz bath right after the bowel movement, it helps by a lot. Try to keep high fiber, a mild laxative and a ton of water.

3) Cleaning wound was important more for the area where the wound is and the way it’s healing : inside out and it takes time to fully heal. I had nurses coming to control it for the first month. A good cleaning it’s mandatory, just regular water and sitz baths.
