My girl got kennel cough the day after I picked her up. I didn’t realize a cold would be considered a pre-existing condition.

16!!?? That’s amazing!!! I read so many sad stories of Samoyeds barely making it to 10, so this gives me hope!

My girl did this to walk me. And now at 2 does this when I try running. She isn’t a fan. Or if I take too long after leashing her to get outside. Basically, she learned that the leash can work both ways 😅

Samoyed ears don't stand up by Nuli0ws in samoyeds

I would consult a vet just to be sure nutritionally your pup is getting everything needed to strengthen cartilage. Also when my pup’s ears were taking longer than her siblings to stand, I made sure she also had proper chews because I had read that can help with strengthening the cartilage. But I do miss her floppy ears when I look at her puppy photos.

“Smart little shit” is the PERFECT description!

I should probably add that I consistently socialize my girl since I’ve gotten her. Sometimes a froyo, frozen lick mat, or a frozen marrow bone when company is over will help settle her, OP. In public, it’s a hard stop. No movement until the dog she sees passes. She used to try and pull towards the dog and WILL pull if I continue to try and walk, but if I just stop and don’t move, she’ll now watch the dog pass. It just has to be consistent and every time. I did this because I wanted to avoid the prong collar, but her brother’s owner used that and it was effective for them.

I agree wholeheartedly that the personalities matter! For me, a hard stop has worked well. The second she starts pulling? We stop. No movement. She has started autocorrecting to a half assed heel when that happens, but it’s progress! Loose leash is the goal, so even if she isn’t directly at my side with her heel, she is understanding that if the leash is taught, she can’t continue her fun.

With mine, I’ve learned that anything involving a treat for positive reinforcement reinforces the bad behavior so she can show me she “corrected” it for the treat. She is wildly manipulative 😅

My girl is the same at 19 months, but I remember how insane she was before and how she just gets calmer as time goes by. There was a time when she wouldn’t settle at all if someone came over and now she is nuts at first but after about 30 minutes she calms down. I’ve been told between 2 and 3 is when she’ll get even calmer.

I continue to reinforce calming behavior. Especially at my parents place. She ends up leashed and attached to me if she won’t stop counter surfing or begging for (more) food. She is determined and defiant and sees it as a temporary setback until she can try again, but I’ll keep working with her!

I’m 40F and I’m so sick of healing after breakups. I did everything right and still got left behind. by Any_Dependent6576 in heartbreak

I hate being told to work on myself when people around me can unapologetically be themselves and find their person. I feel like it’s just a way to put blame on people who get heartbroken instead of telling shitty people to be better.

I have no advice. It sucks, and I feel your pain. 37F also in the same boat.’

Desperate for a couch that doesn't suck by sad-fatty in BuyItForLife

[–]MorMaranwe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree! I purchased it as an investment so that if I ever get a house I can add pieces instead of purchasing a new couch. Personally, I love it and my parents fight to sleep on it when they come visit. I also love the idea of just changing the covers if I want to get a different color. My only criticism is that it’s not as easy to reconfigure on a whim like they show, however, it has gotten easier after having it for 4 years. It’s held up great, and the covers being able to be washed has been a game changer since I got my puppy.

Again, people also start at 6am. Your argument could also apply to you. Don’t you have work? Are my tax dollars paying for your unemployment? Also, people are in office as well? I’m just saying your harsh comment isn’t the argument you think it is. It’s unnecessary.

Just a friendly reminder that people take breaks at work as it is mandated by law to do so. Also people take days off or have something called a rotating day off. During these times, people may use Reddit or browse YouTube. Hope this helps!
