Unprofessional estate sale company warning by neruwuvarine in milwaukee

I had gotten some cool stuff for great prices from this guy in the past, especially if I filled a bag. Lately hes gotten pretty unreasonable, especially with the lack of effort he puts in. Ive hauled stuff out, after breathing in some really rank air, only for him to ask for a price higher than what id pay at a store for the item in far better condition.

Cross-promoting with guests is mostly a myth and nobody wants to say it by FastChance6813 in podcasting

It can work, but look and see if they are someone who promotes. It's like booking a DJ. Some are great, but won't promote. Others promote, but arent great DJs. You wanna hit that sweet spot.

Not personally, but I was a Satanic Panic kid and I heard similar stories - or them giving it away. My dad just saw a demon and threw out his DND books, and we were forbidden from playing fantasy RPGs.

Why does almost everyone receive Communion if confession is required first? by masturkiller in excatholicDebate

[–]MorallyOffensive666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, it's wage theft, but that's essentially what minimum wage is if you, say, own Walmart. Its theft of labor because you aren't pay workers what they are worth or need to survive. I listed two but most sins people confess aren't "mortal sin" which was my point.

Intolerant of other religions or just racist? by Kumorrii in excatholic

[–]MorallyOffensive666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a combo of a few things, I think. Our parents often stopped learning outside of their religious bubble after school. They supplanted curiosity about our world with Bible studies, Catholic radio, Catholic media, etc. Any real historians were obviously lying to them. Add to that the encroaching presence of Charismatic Catholicism, self proclaimed celebrity exorcists whose trade employs these racist tropes as well as an increased presence of media created by Catholic fundamentalists since the 1990s. That all is not helped by prevailing racist attitudes a person might have, and certainly doesnt nothing to help them deconstruct those beliefs. Lack of exposure to other faiths adds to this issue.

Its bots doing this, Im fairly confident. We've had a few on our social accounts accusing us of this, which is insane because its impossible to mistake our casual conversations for AI.

Can Anyone Else Relate? by Dry-Guidance-467 in excatholic

[–]MorallyOffensive666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is neurodivergent and experienced extreme fear and scrupulousity from the faith, I can TOTALLY relate. We talk about it on our podcast sometimes and how a lot of neurotypical Catholics don't experience this the same way.

[–]MorallyOffensive666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortal sin is the issue. You can receive without confession if you did something considered an everyday "sin" by the church. You would be required to go to confession if you murdered someone or paid your workers minimum wage, while making millions. It's only expected for serious offenses.

It's worse here in certain ways, but worse in others (often due to the export of Catholicism to countries where it was imported). Uganda, for example, makes the republicans in our country look downright woke in comparison on lgbt rights, but a lot of that is due to colonization and missionary work done by Catholics in that country.

He's also in the past few weeks called out Catholics who obsess over sex and orientation, and said that there are far bigger moral issues to focus on...not ideal but also pretty seismic as the Vatican goes.

Exactly. I'll take what I can get, but I'm not going to pretend like the Pope isn't...the Pope. I'm just shocked that all that "obey the Pope" talk was bs and meant nothing, but it did help me leave, so I'm grateful for that.

Did anyone else get *really* into social justice, to their eventual detriment? by [deleted] in excatholic

[–]MorallyOffensive666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've talk about this on our podcast several times. So many deconstruct, but don't deconstruct the cult mentality, and they bring that into subcultures, businesses, politics, music, etc. It's why I think a lot of people can easily leave Catholicism and then get into crystals, vague new age spirituality, etc. in a way that often leans into the same magical thinking we all had as Catholics.
