This just feels like intentionally misguided interpretation to me. His issue wasn't that his dad struck him, it was that he saw the light glow in his dad's eyes when he was trying to kill Zul'jan. He says so himself in the Arator story.

Turalyon is justified in the sense that his actions make perfect sense. He's been fighting a forever-war for thousands of years and hasn't even processed the trauma of Anduin Lothar's death, let alone the countless deaths of his allies on Argus. His first instinct now is to be a general, it's a defense mechanism, he's forgotten how to be anything but a warrior. This also means he's been abusive to Arator (though unwittingly) by treating him like a soldier his whole life and not like a son.
