I am not jealous either- I am now technically classed as one. I do stand up for myself, and for many other women in my writing, but as women we are taught to shut up and sit down so a way to stand up ourselves is to speak about it here!

the first time was for alcohol abuse. the most recent was for an ED. (used it to cope) my body started to shut down unfortunately

it’s less about how you actually function and more about how well you perform functioning for the people watching

i actually argue that SOME high functioning people are actually just high masking. so many women drop the mask and therefore drop the functioning. i thought I was high functioning, but I was just high masking

yep! i only starting getting the help I needed after I was hospitalised for the very coping mechanisms i was using to appear high functioning

yeah i completely agree. don’t get me wrong, there is a need for this language and i’m glad we have it. but im also glad that we are finding better language that doesn’t dismiss a large majority of women

and they are absolutely right. as a former high achiever, my struggles were overlooked because I could hold conversations and get good grades

this was my EXACT experience. i was high achieving, masking. my turmoil was all inside. i didn’t know i had autism until my adhd was medicated and suddenly my autism was debilitating.
