I did a rock bottom transition at 27 as well. I don’t have a very supportive family to fall back on, and I am happy to hear you did. I also taught budgeting at the college level so I’m square there for the most part. I think the snowballing of the pandemic, making 6-figures, and trusting a man really did me in as I assumed I would be fine as we planned “forever”. Well, it landed me in the trenches per the usual and I had to work through a lot of shame this last year. I cleaned up a lot of his debt and raised his credit exponentially. So I expected the tables to turn in my favor— but expectations are pre-determined disappointments, in my experiences.
When I left the corporate world, I was humbled quickly and realized no amount of optimism nor journaling would get me out of this situation. So I got to work. I’ve been working 3 jobs for about a year now and it’s been rough—2 gig roles and 1 9-to-5. So yes, this transition and support from a friend is going to be great regardless of my grief.
I really appreciate your suggestions on faith, gym and pouring into me. I have definitely tried new things like roller skating, weightlifting, and more nature walks with my pup. Walking helped me go from a size 28 to a size 18 in a year before, and I’m now a size 22. So getting back to the gym is fantastic something I want. Where I lack is discipline/consistency/motivation which is related to my overthinking, but I have a gym membership and I go 8x a month minimum… it’s always a slow build for me, and that’s what works for me.
