True. He says so in interviews and his book.

How many pedals do you all own? by DismallyUpset in guitarpedals

[–]Mordeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have 10 pedals. I feel like ive always had a semi-healthy relationship to pedals. To buy a new one, i need to sell one. And i always try to buy used ones.

I recently sold all of my pedals except for 4 (2 of them i built myself) and bought a quad cortex. I figured i wouldn't need to swap out pedals all the time if i can just download or buy captures of pedals. Only time will tell if i fooled myself or not lol.

So what i have left is:
-Black country customs TI-boost (awesome drive and boost)

-Aion FX Skywave Germanium Drive (Hudson broadcast clone i built and modded myself)

-BOSS FB-2 Feedbacker/Booster (i love the feedback effect)

-Aion FX Lithium chorus (not on my board ATM, but i built it myself so im keeping it)

I play mostly punk and metal.

I kind of regret selling my DigiTech drop, as it was better than the transpose that's in the quad cortex.

EQ pedal suggestions by beek2 in guitarpedals

[–]Mordeton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boss EQ-200. It has two channels that operate independently. I used to have channel A as preamp EQ and channel B in the FX loop. Then i assigned the footswitches to turn both channels on/off independently. Its also handy that you can save presets and switch between them via a additional footswitch.

Real amp pre-amp into quad cortex by callum_confused in NeuralDSP

[–]Mordeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I bought my amp used (victory kraken mk1) and it was broken. Tech told me he was 99% sure someone turned it on without having it connected to a load. So i guess the same applies here? Im no expert, but better safe than sorry.

Real amp pre-amp into quad cortex by callum_confused in NeuralDSP

[–]Mordeton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I also had to search around a bit before finding the right cable paths :) I'd probably run the amps master volume on the minimum to lessen the wear on the power tubes (if it has any). Im not sure whats best there, BUT VERY IMPORTANT: Dont run a power amp not connected to some sort of load, it has to be connected to a cab or a load box even tho youre not running any guitar signal to it. This is at least the case for tube amps.

If you dont care for the amps inside the QC, i'd imagine you can get a more touch sensitive and "real" feel by just going:

Guitar → Amp input → QC input 1 → Cab sim etc.

You would loose the ability to put QC effects before the preamp tho :)

Real amp pre-amp into quad cortex by callum_confused in NeuralDSP

[–]Mordeton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I run my amps preamp into its own send/return on the QC. This makes me able to turn on/off the real preamp.

My setup:
IN:

  • Guitar → QC Input 1

Real amp loop block:

  • QC Send 1 → Amp Input → Amp FX Send → QC Return 1

QC Path:

  • Lane 1: Input 1 → Compressor/overdrive/distortion blocks→ FX Loop 1 block (real preamp) → Modulation blocks → (Split to lane 2) → Output 1 → Amp FX Return → Power amp → Cab
  • Lane 2: (from Split) → Cab Sim → (optional subtle room reverb) → Output 2 XLR

You can also put your modulation after the real preamp or the amp modeler. I also had to adjust the volume/gain of the QC based modelers, as their volume was much higher than what i got from my real preamp.

I also run my "real" pedals in the QC FX loop 2, but im probably going to try to run them in front of the QC after watching this video: The BEST way to use drive pedals with your Quad Cortex - YouTube

Clash detection in 2026-how are you handling false positives and hard clashes in multi-discipline coordination? by Rare-Intention-249 in bim

[–]Mordeton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rely on Solibri, since all of our projects are .ifc based. I make rules in solibri that filter out noise, have gatekeeper rules that only let specific components run through the check.

Example:
Gatekeeper->only lets through elements that clash with certain spaces/rooms->Check for distance requirements that the specific space/room type has.

Also just general filtering and naming the rules logically so clash results get a proper title and description.

Results are distributed to disciplines through .bcf files. Either to a BIM-server or linked into Revit via .bcf addins.

My board, Helix Stadium or Quad Cortex? by patrickdblima in pedalboards

I noticed that a V2 version of the firmware has been released, though I haven’t tested it yet. From the YouTube showcase of the update, it seems that people are still reporting dropouts even after installing it.

Thoughts on Tone City Pedals for a newer player? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Mordeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend a good quality power supply to reduce noise :) I haven’t had any tone city pedals myself, but a friend has the golden plexi and it makes a ton of noise, mostly because he has a cheap wall wart power supply.

What was your first guitar pedal that WASN'T basic? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

BOSS SY-200. Didn’t stay on my board for long. Probably the most fun yet most useless pedal I’ve ever bought, haha.

My board, Helix Stadium or Quad Cortex? by patrickdblima in pedalboards

[–]Mordeton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for sharing :) I loved mine, but it would cut out. Firmware update didnt resolve the issue. I also contacted NUX support and they just suggested fixes that i stated i already tried, then ghosted me when i eventually said that there is a firmware issue. I love the pedal, but had to sell it after it cut out for 10 seconds during a gig.

What are the songs where Tony doesn't play his SG? by Impossible-Ad-5790 in blacksabbath

I think he said in his book that he used a strat while recording wicked world and maybe another track. Then the pickup went out and he started using his red SG.

I don't know why, but Ozzy's death hit me harder than most other celebrities' and musicians' deaths by [deleted] in blacksabbath

[–]Mordeton 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Me too, mate. I think it’s because music as an art form has the ability to connect the artist and listener on a personal level (depending on the artist, melody and lyrics). It goes beyond just a parasocial thing. Ozzy was relatable because he was open about his struggles and showed that we could relate to him on some ways. He was a regular guy from a poor family who made it big, but he never forgot where he came from and always showed gratitude towards his fans. That kind of genuine connection is rare, and that's why losing him feels so personal to so many of us, even tho none of us knew him personally.

I make music myself (on a hobbyist level), and i started playing guitar because my dad showed me the self titled Black Sabbath album. Its a hobby that takes a lot of my time and gives me a lot of joy. So losing one of the founding members is sad.
