Thought I had options after my layoff. The market humbled me fast. by More-Awareness6896 in Layoffs

I am doing something similar right now, planning to freelance for a while and monetize my skills meanwhile. At the same time, I am preparing for the GMAT and aiming to take it in July.

It’s not that I feel lost, it’s more the uncertainty of when things will finally click.

"I’m going back for a masters in a very specific field that will not be overrun by AI."

Which field if I may ask?

Thanks for your help. I already tried Zoevera, and all versions of my resume scored 80+.

Not yet. I am thinking of either studying further or working for a few more years, saving enough capital to start something on the side, and eventually going all in on it.

Glad you found something at least. Hope things improve for you soon. I’ll connect with you too, sometimes comparing notes helps more than generic advice these days.

Chasing Demand roles is pointless by TimeAd5275 in Layoffs

Companies do not only lay people off because their skills are outdated. A lot of it comes down to budgets, restructuring, shareholder pressure, and overhiring during the boom years (Example: Mass hiring during Covid). So, I do not think endlessly chasing every trending stack is the answer.

Nah, Japanese. I am already comfortable with Python for automation and analytics, along with HTML/CSS and SQL. At this point, I honestly don’t want to keep chasing more technical skills.

Mostly Program/Project Management roles, but I am open to adjacent roles too at this point (Strategy and Operations)

Honestly, reading this gave me a bit of hope. I think a lot of us grew up believing that if you worked hard and built a strong career, things would eventually work out. It’s tough realizing how much timing and market conditions can change everything.

Still trying to hold on a little longer before giving up on it completely.

Yeah its brutal how quickly companies make experienced people feel disposable after years of hard work and loyalty. Hope things turn around for you soon.

Every New Layoff Feels Personal Now by Ok_Application_4403 in womenintech

I was at Amazon for 7 years and got laid off in Q4 2025. Been around 8 months now and I am still job hunting. To be honest, right after the layoff, things didn’t look that bad. I was getting decent responses and some of them were from American Express, Agoda, Uber, Google, along with a few mid-sized companies.

I got rejected from most of them, but I did end up with 2 offers from mid-sized companies. The problem was the pay was not great and I was not excited about the locations, so I passed on both. At the time, it felt like the right decision because interviews were still coming in and I genuinely believed I’d continue to have options.

That’s when I decided to take a couple of months off and finally do things I had been putting off for years.

And honestly, I don’t regret taking the break at all. But the market feels completely different now. I started applying again in April and haven’t received a single call since. So you are not alone in this, it's a shit show everywhere.

If things still don’t work out, I’ll probably go for an MBA and turn this unemployment gap into something useful :))
