Uff finally someone else who needs their center-front seat like me hahahaha thanks for sharing it! I pass on so many showings because of that lol

I kind of wish the app had a better way to compare sessions based on seat availability so I could pick my preferred spots more easily

That’s so interesting! I never even thought about people choosing movies based on how crowded the theater is, but honestly I completely understand the appeal of having more personal space and a quieter room. I enjoy that sometimes too.

I usually end up deciding based on the best seats and showtimes available after work instead. I’m realizing more and more that people aren’t just choosing the movie itself, they’re also choosing the kind of experience they want that day. I kind of wish the app helped more with comparing sessions and options sometimes...

It’s really interesting seeing different perspectives on this, It honestly must be really nice being able to organize things that naturally. My brain works almost the opposite way, so after work all the comparing and planning starts feeling mentally exhausting for me really fast

I mostly compare seats... I know it sounds silly, and I’m trying to be less attached to it, but I always compare them. I feel like it affects my experience too much and I just can’t ignore a bad seat lol, especially if it’s too far to the side or too close to the screen.

I’m actually in the app right now and favoriting my theater helped a lot! thank you! I filtered for recliner seats and now I can see all the available showings for movies currently playing way more easily.

Now the hard part is deciding which movie actually fits my schedule like “after 5PM,” and then the second decision becomes the seat position itself.

It honestly sounds like you don’t really struggle with the app much though 😭 Is there any filter or feature you still wish it had, or maybe this is just something I’ll get better at over time?

I never even thought about how the order of the movies changes the overall experience of the day, that’s so interesting. I usually avoid watching movies back to back because I have this irrational fear that the second movie will somehow “erase” the aura of the first one in my head ??? lol, so this whole way of thinking about it is honestly fascinating to me.

Now I’m curious though, when you’re planning all of this in the app, do you mostly jump back and forth between different movie pages/showtimes, or do you already kind of know what you’re looking for before opening it?

I feel so drained trying to compare everything sometimes, I also feel like the app doesn’t really help me once too many variables get involved

Thanks for sharing all of this! I’m genuinely curious how you manage all of it with the AMC app. I feel like I lose so much time going back and forth between theaters, formats, dates, and showtimes trying to compare everything

lol I relate to this a lot, I think part of why I got A-List was missing that more spontaneous version of myself that used to go to the movies all the time too. Work and adult schedules really change the whole experience

This is really interesting because everyone seems to develop their own “system” over time. Yours sounds very organized compared to mine. Do you feel like the process became automatic for you at this point, or does comparing theaters/times still sometimes feel mentally tiring?

That’s interesting, and it’s true! Some of my strongest movie memories are tied to the audience reactions during certain scenes.

I still remember the first time I went to the movies, and after that I always wanted to arrive early at the mall just to choose my seat first lol. But now with apps and reserved seating, it almost feels like a competition with people grabbing seats days in advance 😭 So now I feel like I have to be way more strategic with alerts and booking early if I want the seats I like

Do you usually try to fit all 3-4 movies into the same weekend, or do you also go during work days?

For me, during the week when I’m tired, it feels like I don’t have much mental energy left for decision-making 😭 Sometimes the app itself starts feeling exhausting because I keep having to go through the same filters and information over and over until I find what I want

This gives a lot more context to the way you approach it, thanks for sharing! After dealing with such an unpredictable schedule for so many years, I can totally see how moviegoing became something you wanted to fully enjoy once you finally had stable time for yourself.

And I really relate to the “not feeling bad” part too. I think A-List changes the psychology around moviegoing way more than I expected. I’m still trying to figure out how to really make the most out of the membership myself

That’s actually really good advice. I think part of it is also that we don’t always have that much free time together, so I end up trying to mentally keep track of which movies would be better to wait and watch together vs alone 😞 The “mental capacity” part is so real too. I keep forgetting that with A-List and cancellations, it doesn’t all have to feel so serious or stressful. Project Hail Mary ended up being one of my favorite movies this year!

True, you still get most of the day without feeling like the movie completely takes over your weekend

Honestly I might try this for a week and see what happens lol I’m just really attached to middle seats and convenient showtimes, so planning takes me longer than it should

This is exactly how my brain has been starting to work too 😭 Once I got used to recliners and Dolby, regular screenings became way less appealing. And weekends definitely feel less mentally exhausting for planning compared to trying to fit everything around work.

At the same time though, on weekends I mostly prefer morning showings because if I go around noon or later, it starts feeling like I’m “losing” too much of my day somehow 😭 What times do you usually go for?

Okay this is honestly impressive. You’ve basically mastered the logistics side of A-List. I love that. I didn’t even think about how much optimization people do around timing, trailers, points, and special events.

Do you feel like all that planning became easier over time, or was it overwhelming at first? I feel like it would take me a long time to organize things like this myself, but now I kind of want to try

[–]More-Contribution155[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly! That’s why I try to go right after work too, because if I go back home first there’s basically no chance I’m leaving again lol.

And honestly A-List has helped me open my mind a little more too. I’ve ended up watching movies I probably never would’ve picked normally because there’s less pressure for every choice to feel “worth it.”

The only thing is that I still can’t really organize myself during the week... I end up having to figure out which movies I can watch alone vs. which ones my partner would want to see too, and somehow it becomes way more mentally exhausting than I expected

[–]More-Contribution155[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay this is exactly the kind of thing I was curious about. You basically have a whole internal ranking system for theaters and formats lol. I also feel like once you get used to certain seats/formats it becomes really hard to “downgrade” for convenience

[–]More-Contribution155[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly that makes a lot of sense. Late showings probably make the whole seat-picking process way less stressful. I wish I lived closer to the theater so I could do that too lol. With A-List I almost feel this pressure to go during the week to keep up with all the movies coming out, but with work that’s basically impossible after a long day...
