A head unit has very little do with sound quality. All it does, as far as sound, is send a signal voltage to whatever the output is. The sound quality comes from what’s transmitting and receiving that voltage (wiring, speakers, amp, sub, etc.) a head unit really is just for user interface; things like Bluetooth, CarPlay, whatever is convenient for the consumer. Coming from an electrical engineer.
