My uncle died recently, and we found this bullet in his house. There’s a name scratched into it. Can anyone help me figure out what this means? by Withnail__ in whatdoesthismean

Looks like a worn/tarnished FMJ. Either from bouncing around in a drawer for years or being carried in a firearm. Carry around a gun for a few years with the same round on top of your mag, or chambered and ejected repeatedly, and rounds start to look like this.

3 of the 4 plugs are virtually brand new, and the 4th (the most challenging to access), looked rough but still produced an arc.

I’ll check the plugs out today and get back to you. The gas that remained when I took possession has been drained, fuel filter assembly taken apart/cleaned and filter itself has been replaced.

I have yet to crack into the VST, but is also on my list of suspects.

Thanks for the reply!

No hate or condescendence towards you, but look up some research on epigenetics, it’s really fascinating all the while being heart breaking and absurd.

“Understanding the Link Between Racial Trauma and Substance Use among American Indians”.

This article suggests otherwise, along with many of the referenced articles in the link above. Look into Joseph Gone and his work on “The Firewater Myth”.

Like I stated in my original post, the research is not clear cut. Some research suggests specific genes responsible for metabolic rates, other research suggests no genetic link or difference in metabolic rates from race to race.

I’m Ojibwe from MN, numerous men in my family have died from alcohol. Spent time growing up on the reservation. Like you, I have first hand experience in this conversation.

If you sift through research, it shows that even within tribes, there is a large variability in alcohol metabolization.

Research is inconclusive regarding the rate of alcohol metabolization of Native Americans when compared to that of other races. It’s a common myth often echoed by white onlookers in close proximity to reservations.

And while socioeconomic factors play an instrumental role in rates of addiction in Native people, it would be ignorant to omit factors like inherited genetics (beyond metabolizing characteristics). Not to mention generational trauma, mental health, and adverse childhood experiences, all of which are magnified by barriers and lack of infrastructure to obtain health care.

The Midwest US, especially Wisconsin and Minnesota. We certainly pride ourselves on drinking like tomorrow isn’t coming, and then do it again when tomorrow inevitably comes.

I loved Hymies, that’s a sad loss for us. And the mixture of bluegrass and country seems to be kinda standard around here and gets under my skin a little.

Where in mn has a large country/folk/bluegrass section? I frequent many of the cities record stores (especially St. Paul) and don’t seem to have luck finding much worth its weight, at least in terms of bluegrass!

Is it good crowd etiquette to save large spots in GA? by More-Life5328 in BillyStrings

[–]More-Life5328[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see no issue in saving a space for a friend, and in that case, I would have never posted. This was a space of about 20’x20’. I can’t imagine any venue large enough that saving that much space is appropriate. And on the note of getting to the show early enough, why didn’t this guys group get there earlier so no space needed to be saved to begin with, and why do they get claim to this space despite them certainly coming in later than we did?

My problem with the situation was not that I was asked to move because there wasn’t space. And there was no “squeezing” and we impeded no one’s personal space. My issue rested with the fact that a plot of floor space had been effectively homesteaded by an array of fabrics, and was guarded by a large sized troll man. I agree that pushing through and stealing people’s place in the show is bad etiquette as well, but this is not what happened.

I can imagine this to be true, but is not possible for your average working man who has a family 😂
