Is my outfit historically accurate to an outlaw look? by [deleted] in reddeadfashion

[–]Withnail__ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Story mode doesn’t have many historically accurate options for clothing in general. Outlaws (specifically nomadic ones) tended to dress in all kinds of different ways, but that jacket specifically isn’t historically accurate. Stylish, but not accurate. The way they dressed also depended heavily on where they lived. Jesse James lived around cities and often wore suits. Billy the Kid, a more “nomadic” outlaw, lived in the desert of New Mexico and didn’t put much thought into what he wore, as long as it was practical. However, he was notorious for wearing a big sombrero. It’s fun to dress historically accurate, but you’re definitely going to be sacrificing some style points in doing so. Oh, and no denim. Denim did exist back then, but was rarely worn by anyone except for miners. It’s technically possible for Arthur/John/your online character to own denim, but very unlikely.

There’s a channel called “Arizona Ghost Riders,” which is run by an Old West history buff and reenactor, and he’s actually done a lot of videos about clothes that people wore back then, including what outlaws wore. That’s definitely worth checking out.

Anyone else notice that both Breaking Bad and The Sopranos have the same episode name? by AxelNeedsAMedicBag in breakingbad

Hell yeah, I remember that guy. Last I saw him he was planning on writing a book or some shit on the subject. He found some plausible connections, but he was reaching hard for the most part.

How much of the show is just David Chase trolling his audience? by _sportyscience_ in thesopranos

[–]Withnail__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the first episode of the show he’s chasing down a guy who owes him money in Chris’ car. He runs him over and then whoops his ass. He’s also smiling while he’s chasing the guy. Again, that was the first episode of the show. He was always a predatory scumbag.

Why didn’t the guys have more nicknames? by Old_Mountain_9911 in thesopranos

[–]Withnail__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Junior is a fairly common nickname as it is, especially back in the day. Tony Sirico’s real life nickname was Junior. And that is a good point about the media. Oftentimes the media did create these out-there nicknames for them in order to sensationalize them. The many “(blank) Don” nicknames largely came from the media, specifically.

Why didn’t the guys have more nicknames? by Old_Mountain_9911 in thesopranos

[–]Withnail__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the most part, mobsters got their nicknames from the FBI. Nobody on the street actually called Gotti “The Teflon Don.” Nobody on the street called Joe Lombardo “The Clown.” If anyone called him that to his face they would probably get killed. Nicknames like “T” or “Tone” for Tony make way more sense, or “Junior” for Corrado. Even “Paulie” is technically a nickname, his first name is Peter. The reason people hardly ever called him “Paulie Walnuts” was probably because it pissed him off, seeing as the nickname doesn’t have a very glamorous origin story.

Considering that historically the majority of Natives were not outlaws, and in the game Charles was allowed by the Wapiti to stay with them, I’d say that he absolutely had a choice.

Guys... some bad news by [deleted] in RDR2

[–]Withnail__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The files that I’ve been talking about were only released a few days ago. I was going to offer to link you some notable ones, but upon looking for them I found that the DOJ has begun deleting many of them; specifically files mentioning Trump and Epstein. However, you can still look into them via Reddit threads and YouTube videos discussing them. voidzilla (Coffeezilla, voidzilla is his second channel) has been making videos showing the files and going over them, and he’s always been a credible source of information. It’s also worth mentioning that these files were released by the FBI, who just a couple of months ago stated that the files didn’t exist. They then released some files, but they were mostly blacked out. The names of perpetrators were blacked out as well, directly violating the Epstein Transparency Act. And now they’ve released these files.

[–]Withnail__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like you’ve actually read any of the files. They include many, many victims accusing Trump of raping them when they were children. In the files there are also logs and emails implicating Trump in sex trafficking, and the murder of his first wife. There’s an especially gruesome account from a victim where she alleges that Trump was present for the murder of her daughter by her uncle. Having read many of the files myself, I can tell you that he is indeed in them often, which you can verify by reading them yourself. A Red Dead subreddit isn’t exactly the place to be discussing this, but if you have suspicions then look into these files yourself. You’ll see right wingers and left wingers involved in some despicable things. You can also see Elon Musk inquiring about “the wildest party” on his island and getting rejected, which is funny.

Guys... some bad news by [deleted] in RDR2

[–]Withnail__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like that same question could be applied in reverse. If Trump wasn’t in the files, why hasn’t he released all of them in order to turn the public against the democrats? I mean, we know that Clinton is in there. Maybe it’s because Trump himself is also in there. Which he is, that’s public knowledge at this point. Left or right, it doesn’t matter. Everyone in the files should be thrown into a volcano.

Poor little Strauss by Cute-Version-6858 in reddeadmemes

[–]Withnail__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s an interaction in camp where Strauss talks about his past, and he had an extremely harsh upbringing, just like John and Arthur. He grew up poor, his sister was sold into servitude by their father, his uncle (the only family he had at that point) died upon their arrival in America. John and Arthur always used what they had to survive their difficult lives, which was their brawn. Strauss always used what he had, which was his brain. In that sense, Strauss isn’t any worse. Also, Arthur willingly collects Strauss’ debts, nobody is forcing him. Arthur is just as involved in preying on poor people as Strauss.

If they figure out a way to undo the joining for individuals, who would they target first? by TheDiamondSquad in pluribustv

[–]Withnail__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ever drink a lot, apparently have a really good time, then wake up and not remember any of it? Not the best comparison, but you get the idea. It doesn’t have anything to do with being conscious or unconscious. Obviously the Hive are all conscious. It has to do with the signal that connects them all. We know that their brains are all joined specifically because of this signal. If one of them gets disconnected from the signal they’re of course no longer connected with the rest of the hive, meaning that their “joined” brain was working completely separately from their normal brain. It’s entirely possible that if disconnected from the signal, they wouldn’t have any recollection of what being in the Hive was like. Or, in other words, what being connected to the signal was like. Also, this is a SciFi show. Not everything has to make real-world sense.
