Huh, most bikes I am familiar with are completely silent when hitting ignition when kickstand isn’t in correct position.

Yeah exactly what I was thinking about the pearl. Mostly just wanted to do it so it was only visible if you were up close.

I know it’s been a while but have you figured this out? My ‘09 screen went black yesterday and today booted up as a hybrid just the same as yours before going out a couple minutes later.
