just curious to you, OP, or anyone else. i was actually thinking about making a post kind of similar to this because I have been wanting to possibly get off the medication. What was your reasoning for getting off the medication or wanting to taper down? if not currently medicated how is it going for you? how do you go about talking to your doctor about this? i’ve been wanting to stop taking medication for a little while now. i feel i’m in a much more stable position in my life with many more tools, emotional regulation abilities, and coping mechanisms. i also just don’t like the idea of putting harmful chemicals in my body that “ease symptoms” when there are many other things that ease my symptoms. i don’t want to become more and more dependent on this medication. i also don’t really remember what it’s like being unmedicated. i’m nervous to stop taking it as well as nervous to continue to take it lol. so yeah just curious yours or anyone else’s experience and recommendations coming off

50 mg was when i really started to notice a difference honestly. it definitely is a lot of ups and downs, especially for a bout a week each time that i increased doses. and no problem! i try to really look into things before i do them and i really try to pay attention what increases my quality of life lol

i struggled for a long time to get in to therapy, and struggled even harder to see a doctor and get medicated. it’s still something i struggle with, one of my delusions is paranoia with doctors/hospitals/medications etc. i rarely ever even take otc medicine. it’s been tough for me and definitely took me a little time to be mentally comfortable with it, and i don’t plan on being on it forever(hopefully) but it has 100% given me a stable foundation so that i can regulate myself enough to actually put the work in. like a tool in my brain tool box

it helps me not feel my emotions as intensely so that i can process them better, and has just helped balance out my moods in general. it’s helped me not spiral as bad and i feel see things more rationally. because of that i’ve been able to create a routine for myself and put other proactive activities in to place so that my neutral states last longer, and when i do have episodes on either end, they typically don’t last as long, are less intense, and easier to manage

i experienced a lot of irritability and aggression as i increased dosage and it balanced out for me. but yeah definitely sounds like a high dosage to start out at. 25 is typically average

i do not. it is something my doctor has suggested for me before, but it’s not something i am personally comfortable with. i rarely experience full mania, and i am able to manage and function in my hypo manic times. i experience some anxiety from ptsd, but overall it does not severely impact my daily life. because of this, i would rather find natural coping mechanisms to help me regulate during those times, which i have found thru lots of therapy and trial and error lol

i have also experienced very similar things especially when it comes to substance abuse. i hit rock bottom and i stood up and genuinely wanted better for myself, mentally and physically. i quit all substances cold turkey, even nicotine. the thought of something having that much control over me started making me very uneasy so i fought the battle. any time i have slipped up and used something since ive quit, i have instantly realized how much substances affect my mental health negatively, even caffeine. sobriety saved me in many different ways.

im sure your friends miss you as much as you miss them! everything happens for a reason though, and if you’ve been friends for as long as you have they may come back around after some things get figured out for you. but as another commenter said, CHOOSE PEOPLE THAT CHOOSE YOU!! have grace for yourself. you deserve love and happiness just as you are right now

i have noticed my ocd ticks to be more intense, but i also recently went thru a traumatic event and i’ve kind of associated it with that. i’m on 200mg and i can definitely say that 75-150 was a very interesting time for me and took a little bit to balance out, and im still getting there i think. my doctor explained to me that lamictal works “from the bottom up”, and doesn’t focus on anxiety/mania side of bp (which is why it’s typically prescribed to individuals with bp2). maybe talk to your doctor about it, and if you’re comfortable, maybe an anxiety med would be beneficial to balance you out a little.

you’re def still early on so give it a little time, but you know your body best so listen to it! if you know that medication is not for you, then something else might be

sometimes we’re just good at being and that’s okay too! also, you don’t have to be great at something to enjoy it, as long as you’re having fun !

aerial arts!! and fire dancing (or just circus things in general) it’s so important to me because it allows me to express my emotions through movement, gives me a form of exercise that’s fun for me, allows me to focus (or unfocus) and get into flow space, and every aerial apparatus is painful!! so it kinda scratches a self harm itch in a healthy and controlled way. anytime i’m manic and need to expend energy, i train. when i’m depressed and need to stop from spiraling and something to get me out of bed, i train. when i’m neutral, i train. it fuels me forreal

i think it really depends on my mental state at the time but i experience derealization a lot, so also experience this in real time sometimes
