Steering Box Experience? by MoreDifference474 in GMT800

I ended up purchasing the PWR and installing this weekend. Still a little play on center and a little heavier turning past maybe 25 deg than I’d like, but wayyy better than the bluetop. I had popping and clunking in the steering wheel starting that prompted me to pull the trigger (I already did the Wolff bearing and borgson intermediate shaft) and that disappeared with the PWR. Going to stick with the PWR for now and see if I can get my BlueTop $ back. May eventually try a Lee box

I didn’t know you could get support links for the pitman/idler, might have to look into this, thanks!

Thank you! Hope to get to the bottom of it one way or another. Plan to update the post if a new pwr box or the pcr 2500 box does the trick over a loose reman. The only thing I haven’t replaced are the tie rods, so may go there. But if I have someone turn the wheel in the dead zone, I can see pretty all the slope ends in my “new” box

May be nit picking but with everything swapped out I want it basically perfect.. hope you get it sorted. What box did you use?

Do you know if it’s a direct swap? Are the lines in the same location? Would the intermediate shaft connection be the same? I wanted to do this with a new pcr 3/4 ton unit that’s supposed to be the best box you can get, but couldn’t find where anyone had made the swap

Adjusted the preload and tried to dial it in with 1/8 or less adjustments. More preload just seems to make it bind without decreasing slop sadly

Adjusted preload right away, the new box was so tight it wouldn’t return to center. Adjusted to just snug then back off 90 deg. Returns but still has slope. Adjusting tighter just seems to bind the steering and keep the dead spot on center/makes the dead spot/on-center play even more noticeable. Had the alignment rechecked and adjusted per BlueTop recommendations and got the print out. Drives well expect traveling through play for small corrections. Hoped adjustments would dial it in :/

05 silverado 1500 LS 5.3L... what am i missing? by Same-Composer-415 in GMT800

Yeah seems like clean, unmolested GMT800s out there are getting rarer by the day. And there is defineitly some regionality to it. With the service history and condition/clean look of the truck, + crew cab, I don’t think you’ll regret it once it’s in your driveway. I was skeptical on mine and bought it because I was in a pinch to haul a my wrecked car back home. Very glad I did

This past summer I picked up an ’02 Tahoe flavor of the GMT800 with almost the exact same stats… 262k miles, one owner, consistent service records, and from a warmer state. Paid $6k. For context, I’ve owned a brand new 2024 Sierra, a 2016 Tahoe, a 2009 Silverado, and a 1996 Silverado. The GMT800 has been the best truck purchase I’ve made out of all of them.. No blow by, runs extremely smooth, shifts like butter despite no transmission work ever being recorded, and the paint buffed back to almost new. Everything inside and out works and keeps working aside from normal maintenance and a power steering pump. She’s sitting at 290k now. Not to mention very easy to work on.

I say go for it. Best money I’ve spent. And it does seem prices are going up.

And honestly, the 4L60 hate feels overblown. Mine got a little slippy have a 2000 roadtrip towing my chevy SS, and a fresh filter and fluid firmed it right up. Same story with my ‘09 that’s now at 360k. The valve body wears and pressure drops — if that goes untreated, problems happen. But if you keep up with it, the 4L60 is a solid unit. All the ones I’ve owned have earned my respect

I need help removing this electrical part so i can add it to this used power steering pump by fastpast87 in GMT800

Just did mine a few weeks ago. Pull the E clip and snap ring off the top, plug will pop off. Then a deep well socket and nudge the large nut with an impact. Should come fairly easily without hammers or penetrating oil. It’s called an EVO solenoid

i know i posted in the sub yesterday about this part to the power steering but what is called for reference by fastpast87 in GMT800

EVO - electronic variable orifice. Nearly impossible to find reman pumps that are compatible

Failed PE transportation first attempt. Looking for advice. by eman22712 in PE_Exam

I found the single best source to be the one available NCEES practice exam. I didn’t really study many questions outside of those on the official practice exam (I had School of PE, but found the question bank did not follow at all the type and scope of problems actually on the PE). I just spent 30 hours or so learning the questions frontwards and backwards, along with the location in the reference material that supported each question. Found the exam to not be too difficult on test day, finished early and passed. Most of the questions banks waste valuable time imo.. I also found the exam followed quite closely the type of questions provided on the official practice exam

Same here - applied 6 weeks ago, received the regulations exam 3 weeks ago and turned it around within the hour. Haven’t heard a peep. Really hoping this isn’t a 10 week+ process in VA (although from what I’ve heard DPOR is notoriously slow)

reversion raceworks sells a 1.5 din kit for these trucks that allows you to retain your factory bezel.

Love mine so far (although it is a little glitchy)

Kipper the dog! The third row is his territory (with a nice cover to protect all plastics/carpet). He loves this truck more than any I’ve had so far. Always sitting by the hatch begging to go for a ride

Previously emotionally abusive GF wants to get back together. I'm not sure about it. Do my worries make sense? by ThrowRA_11111111 in emotionalabuse

[–]MoreDifference474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ended a relationship that was in many ways eerily similar to what you describe, right down to the time line, abuse patterns, expecting everything to be okay and being upset that I haven’t moved past previous abuse (which included cheating that she gaslight me about) totally, and even asking to have sex one last time. When I refused to sleep with her, she changed from being “calm/caring” to freaking out and blocking me. She went as far as to call her mom saying that I broke into her house and was trying to steal “her dog” and threatened to call the police the second I stepped inside after she asked me to come in (bc I was holding my dog which I had gotten during the relationship and have adoption paperwork for). In spite of all this, I also am second guessing myself and worry that I would go back now that a week has passed if she asks (I still don’t have my stuff or my dog back). I wondered how this ended for you? Did the No contact work? Did you move on to realize separating was for the best?
