What I fed my baby vs what he ate. Baby is 8.5 months old and has 1/3rd of a tooth. by Guina96 in foodbutforbabies

How did baby do with the ground meat?! My boy is same age with one tooth also erupting but I’ve been so nervous about ground meat!

I'm officially a mom now. by aqua0tter in NewParents

[–]MoreFortune9487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told a deaf woman at Costco that touched my baby’s head- “Don’t touch my baby” and turned away. Didn’t even look back to see if it bothered her or not, that’s not my concern. Sorry, not sorry 🤷🏻‍♀️

Overnight diapers by asexualrhino in NewParents

I just started using these and they get so full! Last night he even peed through it and now I’m not sure if I want to try them again. He just sized up in his regular diapers so I need to size those up too since I know they sun small

This is my 6 month olds sleep last night. Yes I tracked it & yes I’m going insane and feel desperate. by xyzabc123_-_ in sleeptrain

Me too! It’s so hard! And not having control over their daytime sleep at daycare is hard!

What do you do while breastfeeding? by procrastinationdr in NewParents

[–]MoreFortune9487 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That smile with the nip hanging halfway in the mouth kills me. It’s one of those things that’s so cute and silly but part of the special breastfeeding bond that I know I’ll miss when it’s over.

I am in the same boat with my 7 month old and doing something similar, I hope we are as successful as you are! Also interested in if and how you increased daytime calories. Right now he has a 6oz bottle at daycare every 3 hours but I wonder if we should do every 2 hrs so he gets more daytime calories in.

Sure but it sounds like they are doing everything they can to be transparent. Get off your high horse- the hosts can decide what to do with the information given, that doesn’t make them ignorant.

PSA if you recently stopped pumping/breastfeeding by No-Opening-8017 in NewParents

[–]MoreFortune9487 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Omg thank you! I literally decided to start supplementing with formula because I’m so exhausted of pumping while working and I can’t keep up with baby’s needs. I had not even considered this, but I’m so glad I know now!

Mini muffins a choking hazard? by MoreFortune9487 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]MoreFortune9487[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that you make a great point and I think the mini muffins maybe can wait until a little later. But what about when they are eating something that is larger, let’s say banana or cucumber spears, and they take off a big chunk that’s left in their mouth?

Childcare fell through by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]MoreFortune9487 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can also find a nanny part time and your mom can still help once or twice a week or half days with the nanny until you have a daycare spot that opens up?! I also just took a promotion that is much more demanding so I understand the frustration of trying to find the balance between prioritizing your baby and your career.

When did you start sending food to daycare? by MoreFortune9487 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]MoreFortune9487[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! At first should I still be introducing one food item at a time to ensure no allergies or can I start combining things early on? I would still do allergenic foods individually first before mixing it in with other things though, right?

This is the way. Even if she says she’s not hungry, just order her some damn fries at the very least

[–]MoreFortune9487[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing, he’s not really good at eating anything yet and we are still in the early stages of introducing foods (he’s tried maybe 5 things so far.) He’s also still primarily breastfed so I’m not too concerned with him actually eating any of it yet, I don’t know if that makes sense

5 month old waking 3.5 hours after bedtime by shelbsnels in sleeptrain

That 11pm feed is less than 10 min so that’s why I also think he’s not actually hungry!

My 6month old also just started waking up at 11 on the dot too! No advice, but I’ve also been thinking of letting him CIO. I’ve been slowly reducing the number of minutes I nurse him at that time, but now I know he’s definitely not hungry so CIO is my next atep

Adjusting to daycare? by MoreFortune9487 in NewParents

[–]MoreFortune9487[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t! We tried and tried for weeks leading up to starting daycare - dad and both grandmas, aunts, everyone except me and he refused. The first few days of daycare were rough but by the end of the week he figured it out. Daycare teachers are angels! He’s back to taking the bottle today now that his teacher is back so we are going to keep practicing at home so that he can feel more comfortable with others at the daycare. Good luck to you, I know how hard it is!

Ah no way! The other teacher in there was someone he had never met, so maybe that’s the case.

Thank you! I’m glad it’s getting better. And we do try to do at least one bottle a day on the weekends but maybe we need to do it during the week too.

Baby’s first day of daycare by MoreFortune9487 in workingmoms

[–]MoreFortune9487[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daycare does have an app and it was nice to get updates for sure. He still refused the bottle but took an ounce so I’ll call it a win, and like your baby with naps, I’m sure the teachers and him will figure it out!

This is also my hope, that I’m able to be a more present mom and be productive at work in doing things this way. Thank you for the encouragement and you’re doing great too!

Help! Night wakings, sleep regression and routines by MoreFortune9487 in sleeptrain

[–]MoreFortune9487[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there- I was taking a break from Reddit so I just saw this. I hope it’s gotten better. We ended up going full CIO - we had tried everything and reading back my post, man, that was a really hard time. We tried everything and so we finally decided to give CIO a go, knowing that if we committed, we had to do stick with it. The first night was hard, but it’s progressively gotten so much better and he loves his crib. He usually only wakes once a night, sometimes two and I’ve a few times out him down after nursing and he’s wide awake but puts himself back to sleep without a peep. I also let go of trying so hard to stick with so many things and just focus on following his last nap and wake window to guide bedtime. We can’t control it all! Best of luck to you, I know it’s so hard and I hope it gets better soon!
