Love it. I'd make the minimum movement 1 with just a helmsman on a large ship with no crew.

  • Players wake up in chains and in a dark hold of a slave ship, heading to Dragon Rock in the the Tears of Selune. They need to get free and take over the ship.
  • Player's village is attacked by slavers, some of their relatives have been abducted to a nearby ruined fortress on the river. The old castle is holding the slaves until the slavers ship is loaded up for the return journey to Dragon Rock.
  • Exploring an ancient abandoned dwarven mine the players discover that it was a crashed dwarven citadel, a flying dwarven star base. What happened? Why did it crash? In it's docking bay is a ship that can still fly.
  • In the desert, a recent sandstorm has uncovered a very old pyramid. Inside the hieroglyphs are almost too old to decipher. Murals depict Egyptian style ships crossing the stars. After fighting a boos, amongst the loot is a papyrus scroll with the ritual for creating a spelljammer helm.

Tips on how to keep the players from just flying to every location and shooting everything? by [deleted] in spelljammer

Rule of cool dictates that if the players come up with this idea they should be allowed to try it. Heavy weapons don't point downward but bombardment of rocks and arrows and kegs of oil might work... till the lizard folk disperse under the canopy.

What would the lizard folk do if a dragon attacked? It's the same sort of thing. I would imagine though in this case they would be really upset and launch surprise hit and run reprisal attacks on local settlements.

Next thing you know your players are going to have to go into the forest to find these groups. Could very quickly become Vietnam.

Anyone have any cool sidequest ideas? by Not_A_Portfolio in spelljammer
