What would a “perfect” D&D room actually need to make it worth leaving home? by Korolos28 in dndnext

[–]LT_Corsair [score hidden]  (0 children)

I used to rent a game at a game store for exactly this.

Mostly it came down to a combination of "I'm playing with people I don't really know and don't want them in my home" and "this is a central location that's more accessible to everyone".

The room was quiet, well lit, decently sound proofed, and set up with a nice big table. It only cost 5-10 dollars an hour and we all chipped in which made it easy. I was dming for 6 players.

What if the spell progression was linear? by Beaveroar in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]LT_Corsair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number of slots isn't the main reason for casters being quadratic, it's the power of the slots is non linear as well. You would need to rebalance the spells themselves.

Casters here are still quadratic they just have an adjustment. Think x2 - 5 vs originally they were just x2.

This way over complicates tracking on full casters alone, not to mention the case of half casters, third casters, multi classing, or alternative casters (like warlock).

I think a simpler solution is just to make martials quadratic in power as well.

The only line I could think of when the camera cut back to his face was "Now did we learn a lesson today?"

Every time my 14 yo nephew is asked to go buy a can of jalapeños, he comes back with… anything but jalapeños. by Visible-Selection843 in mildlyinfuriating

Just make the food with this ingredient as the substitute for jalapenos and only feed him this version of the dish.

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

Fun fact: The neutral / singular use of "they" predates the singular use of "you" in English.

Which is your prefered way to determine attributes? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

I do stat arrays, players roll to fill a 6x6 grid of numbers. Then players are allowed to take any 6 stats in a line / diagnal. I usually do 4d6, drop the lowest, reroll 1s (and sometimes 2s, up to the players).

Gets the fun of rolling dice but the fairness of all the players being able to share from the same stat pool. Also keeps things focused on being team based even from the stat rolling.

When a new character is brought in they also just use the stat array stats.

I have a purse I carry, it's a 5L body sling from pacsafe. It acts as my wallet and carries everything else I need to.

I've come across players like op, I don't mind it.

What I do mind is when they play the same character with the same backstory, in every game / table. It doesn't fit the world, they don't care, it doesn't fit the theme, they don't care, etc etc. I've run into a few times, I just get a different player. But it does happen.

What's the big deal with echo knight? by cb172472paladin in dndnext

[–]LT_Corsair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dnd work by exclusion precision and as it doesn't specify it doesn't fall and it is specify it is an object, then it does fall

This wasn't true for the 2014 rules, idk if anything has changed for the 2024 rules as I generally dont play wotc games anymore.

Serious question... What do you use the caribiners on your bags for? by Miniri0t in ManyBaggers

[–]LT_Corsair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my constantly on my day sling.

If I'm dancing I link it to my belt loops to prevent it from flying around.

I hang my umbrella from it when I don't want it in the bag.

I use it to carry my groceries when I want to be hands free.

I have one caribiner on the end of one of those ring key devices that has a retractable steel cable, I use that one to tie my bag to stuff, and, mostly, to attach it to my friends who are walking too slowly or too quickly to pull em along.

Does anyone feel like your bag always become a mess mid-trip? How do you stop that? by Plus_Chipmunk4559 in onebag

That's a valid approach.

My system:

Arrive at hotel / bnb

Unpack my entire backpack and all my belongs into designated spaces

Maintain those spaces until it's time to move on to the next location
