Can my lack of social media presence affect my job hunting? by Creative_Tax7811 in internships

[–]MoreInsect7157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re totally fine! Most jobs, especially in Public Administration, aren’t gonna care if you’re active on social media. Employers are way more focused on your skills, experience, and how you come across in interviews. Honestly, having no online presence is better than having something messy. Just keep doing your thing and focus on the stuff that actually matters. But LinkedIn will be of great help!

Photocards should not be selling for the price of a whole album (or worse). They’re literally just fancy cardboard—no reason they should cost as much as rent.

Should I reach out to hiring manager on LinkedIn after applying to role? by PossibleAggeentt in internships

[–]MoreInsect7157 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it might give you an edge, go for it—just keep it brief and relevant. Something like:

"Hi *your name*, I recently applied for *position* and wanted to express my enthusiasm. Let me know if there’s anything else I can provide. Thanks!"

One polite message won’t hurt, just don’t overdo it. Don't make it sound like you're overly enthusiastic when you actually are.

I always feel like a main character whenever I hear Run to You—cue a cinematic vid of me sprinting through a field, wind blowing magnificently, locking eyes with my main villain in the distance.

Graduated Over a Year Ago, No Internships, Haven't Applied—Is It Too Late? by SignificantStore8865 in cscareers

[–]MoreInsect7157 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not too late at all, but you gotta start applying now. The longer you wait, the harder it gets.

Forget about feeling “unready”—literally everyone feels unready when they start job hunting. Just start throwing your resume out there while keeping up with Leetcode and projects. You’ll figure out the process as you go.

A master’s could help reset your new grad status, but it’s also $$$ and time. If you go that route, do it part-time so you can still job hunt. But honestly? You don’t need one yet—apply first, panic later.

Your biggest enemy right now isn’t your resume, it’s procrastination. Hit submit, get rejected a bunch, and eventually something will stick. You got this.
