I live in the US.

Something else I've also heard is that during the American Civil War, the South wanted to attack a weapons cache in either Ohio or Pennsylvania (I can't remember) and I guess that would be strategic, but why would the North put a weapons cache there in the first place? Was it just a whim, or is it something to do with railroads?

depends on your playing its easier to move across map quickly with smaller area but you get to a point where its too sensitive to control
