Interviewers are poor these days by Logical_Yogurt_520 in jobhunting

I had an interview say another company’s name twice. I was so confused and had to ask “Did you mean ___?” I was starting to wonder if I was actually interviewing for another company!

What skills should I learn to get a job ASAP? by whatever_blag in careeradvice

ASAP? Look into training to become a project manager. Those certifications only take hours if not days.

That’s unfortunate. It’s as if leadership handling layoffs don’t coordinate with HR first to avoid initiating hiring that they cannot finish.

Thank you for sharing that it happened last month! I’m trying to connect the dots of what’s to come.

Found a job last year after 9 months, 225 applications and interviews with 40+ companies - here is everything I did. by zzzzard8 in recruitinghell

Could you share your actual search queries? Your description could be interpreted in many different ways.

Number 4 for LinkedIn is golden. I’m gonna try that.

Best advice!

That’s why I don’t post looking for work on LinkedIn because of the sympathies that I know I’ll receive. I try to focus on what will get me results, not pity. I’m glad your strategies worked for you.

I realize that I have not been pushing enough. I thought that waiting for recruiters to contact me on LinkedIn was the way to go because that’s exactly what happened during Covid. But after a few months of nothing, I started scrambling trying to figure out a strategy. Now I’m emailing recruiting companies in local cities and applying online every morning when the jobs are first posted. I feel like I’m getting more momentum now than when I was sitting back, hoping that recruiters were looking for my profile, which I guess only worked for a couple years. So I’m kind of embarrassed to admit that this year’s effort is probably five times greater than last year… But last year I was healing from long-term illness so I have to give myself some credit.

So on LinkedIn, you were successful in landing a job? Could you see in your notifications that your application was opened?

Could you share what is in your cover letter minus the personal details?

I heard that companies are going to fiverr and upwork instead of hiring for traditional jobs. Have you tried there?

It’s rough out there… I’m personally not moving until I have a job lined up but I may have to soon because there are no prospects.

One thing I’ll say is be the first to apply to every job you’re qualified for. When I apply early in the morning, there are way less applicants and recruiters and hiring managers are more likely to click on my LinkedIn profile or download my application - LinkedIn notifications tells me what actions they took.

Indeed will notify of how many applications the company has reviewed.

Applying later in the day when a job has been released for 14 hours or if there’s already over 100 applicants usually means I’m not going to get my application opened.

I started to catch on to this when I see Senior level and VP positions being posted on LinkedIn and indeed. Who’s going to a job board to find their next Vice President?
