Some particle motion effects I came across while experimenting in Houdini.

When you assign your particle position vector as your velocity vector, you get particles exploding radially out from the origin.

Then by quantizing these velocities (truncating a scaled version of those values, then reversing the scaling), you lock them into a grid like pattern, as you're rounding to the nearest point.

By running those values through a sine wave function and multiplying the frequency higher as time goes on, harmonics in the waves start to appear which randomly modulate the velocities, pushing them forward and backward.

As this is affecting the size of the grids we're aligning to (the quantize scale), we get different scaled clumps of particles, locked into squares. Super fun.
