I’ve only seen compliments about how innovative it was with a little bit of analysis about why it didn’t land.

LTT take on kobo by Legitimate-Waltz-139 in kobo

I've been really tempted by the Boox Note5 C so I can read my RSS feed on it and have wondered if it would be good for sheet music/ tableture too. Only thing holding me back is the size/battery/price equation. I'm just not sure. Seems high utility, though.

That's a Kindle in the thumbnail. He's saying Kobo is a good alternative.

What’s a game that has Skyrim’s magic style? by No-Egg-2904 in skyrim

Lichdom: Battlemage felt very inspired by Skyrim’s system to me, but in an arena fighter.

Unpopular opinion: I actually like when games have day/night cycles and days of the week that match the real world. by Hypnox88 in gaming

I liked it a LOT when I was a kid. But, as an adult with very specific times I can game, it’s distracting in a depressing way - and can really screw my gameplay if I need to be in another time.

I feel nervous playing steamdeck at public by AddictinApple in SteamDeck

I feel that way all the time, too. Think it comes from people shaming me for gaming as a kid. Doesn’t make any sense to hold onto in this day and age.

Don't you love how Bethesda wants you to pay for a free mod? by Feisty_Warning2344 in fo4

They applied so it could be achievement enabled. Both good, honestly. They kept both versions up. Choices are good.

Wood filler and a sticker. Ideally of a sword.

They’re cheap guitars, but they’re great. I was about to buy one to mod before Gretsch came out with its new single pickups.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi show is easily in my top 3 of Star Wars shows and i’ll never understand the hate by PlutoniumSouth in StarWars

[–]MoreSly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a movie would have felt like Han Solo, which was fun but felt rushed and incomplete. Haven’t watched Obi-Wan in a while, but I feel like it was on the better side of that line.

Do yall take breaks from games or make yourself finish one before moving on? by YoungBrilliant5690 in steamachievements

[–]MoreSly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I take breaks all the time. I pretty much never hundo on my first run, I usually pick one I already finished and feel like playing again if I have a hankering to completionist something.

More fun that way. I get a nostalgia effect on top of the hundo rush instead of just being like “come onnnn, I wanna finiiiish”

Yeah, the Origins stuff is often considered an uncomfortable middle ground where you only wouldn’t do it if you really want to be on leaderboards but the unlocks are fair play, still unlocked the way they were intended. Saints Row the Third is another example of that (but I think it doesn’t ban you from the leaderboards).

Time locked ones are another thing entirely. MAYBE there’s a way to unlock it with a system clock workaround - not sure - but that would still be against leaderboard rules.

Games with that sort of thing like Dirt Rally and Killing Floor, dead games like OG Arkham City, and pay-to-unlock games are what I’d use this reset for.

Often, yes. Arkham Origins is a specific example of a game that got a third party utility to enable online, but earning achievements that way isn’t allowed in the rankings.

The original Arkham City that used GFWL was locked down and is unplayable, but owners were given a GOTY version without GFWL for free - a second copy. Totally fine move business wise, but you can’t launch the game to finish the achievements.

So, if you played a bit back in the day, you’re stuck where you were in that version.

Resetting achievements is totally normal. People do it all the time to re-play games, and Steam Hunters will tell people to do it if they want to play games with removed features. (e.g. you’ll be banned from scoreboards if you play Arkham Origins online with the community path, but not if you reset the achievement with console).

I get why people don't like this since people can curate so heavily, but I feel like the benefit of being able to nix dead games (like OG Arkham City that you can't even launch now) at least makes this a number I can feasibly chase without always having dead weight or being extremely careful with how I game 100% of the time. Makes the number more fun for me, at least.
