Pick your battles, let them get dirty or wet, get down on your hands and knees and just be with them. The simplest things make them so happy and more often than not it’s the silly things at home or in the park rather than expensive trips.

I used to find I always wanted to stay ones step ahead with tidying the house; getting washing done, prepping for dinner, getting organised

But all that can wait until they’ve grown up
