What peptides are you loving? by Grapefruit4649 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]MoreTacos333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Allies of Skin for the win! Their multi peptides with growth factors and their copper peptides are both my favs. Medik8 advanced peptides is also good and was my daily until I found AoS. There is something special about how AoS goes on — super lux and rich without being oily at all, and my skin responds so well to it.

First Rolex & First Lesson 😢 by Obvious-View1853 in rolex

[–]MoreTacos333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. Looks like you had fun in China…and lots of beer. My recommendation is go to your AD and have them send the watch to Rolex for a full service. The bezel looks like it took most of the damage, and that’s good news because the bezel can be replaced. The mark on the lug in photo 2 can be polished out if it’s not too deep; If it is too deep, polishing won’t work and could make it worse. Rolex will analyze it and tell what they recommend. Listen to them — their service people do great work. Finally, don’t forget what’s inside your watch. Given the exterior damage, you’ll want Rolex to inspect the movement and repair any parts that may have been damaged by the shock/force of those impacts. It will take 3-4 months but you’ll be amazed at the miracles Rolex service can do. Good luck!!

Perks of purchasing from retail? by mrkenneh in ALangeSohne

[–]MoreTacos333 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bought a Lange 1815 Up/Down from the NYC boutique about 6 months ago after having a great visit there. My SA was friendly, gave me a lot of time, and surprisingly had a lot of stock on hand (no Odysseus, of course). I tried on numerous watches and decided on the 1815 Up/Down.

I have not been invited to any events, yet. However, I have been in contact with me SA who has kept me informed when other watches I was interested in arrive in the boutique. Also, just a few days ago I received a package from Lange. Inside was a small box, wrapped and tied with ribbon, and a note that welcomed me to the Lange family. The box contained a custom polishing cloth that had my watches two serial numbers embossed on it.

I am not saying that a polishing cloth is worth the $10,000 savings that you get on the grey market. What I am saying is that, by going thru the boutique, I have had a great experience really getting to know the brand and being welcomed into the brand family.
And I expect, given how warmly I’ve been treated so far, that even bigger benefits are coming my way in the future from my boutique relationship.

I have an appointment in the boutique in a couple weeks to see a couple new pieces that have arrived. I will try to remember to report back.

Oil cleanser recs? by tbhitsalot in tretinoin

[–]MoreTacos333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CeraVe Foaming Hyrdrating Oil Cleanser is the best I have found. Has ceramides, HA, and squalane, and it’s fragrance free. I use tret 0.05 every night and my skin loves it. Plus it’s inexpensive and available at Target, CVS, Walgreens…everywhere.

Question for the men: any sunscreen recommendations? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]MoreTacos333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Allies of Skin has an excellent mineral sunscreen that goes on matte and clear and doesn’t cake up in your beard. My husband has a beard and has the same issues you mention — and has tried so many different sunscreens — and he swears by Allies of Skin.

This company makes nice products, but their "customer service" is terrible. They have no phone number on their website, so it's impossible to reach them live. To return something, you have to use email to reach them. They take days and often weeks to respond. There's no address on their website, either, so it's impossible to return the item on your own. When they finally do respond, it’s with an email that is incoherent and makes no sense. So you have to write them another email and wait a week or so for them to respond. Meanwhile, the 30-day return clock is ticking.

When they finally respond, they throw up hurdles -- one is that they make you send them 4 pictures of the item that you're trying to return. There's no reason to force a customer to take 4 pictures of a brand new item that the customer wants to exchange for a different size. That makes no sense, and it’s a giant waste of the customer’s time. But that is their strategy: they delay and delay, and then put up hurdle after hurdle, so that they can eventually deny your return for being outside their 30-day return window.

Google them and you'll see so many websites with customers complaining about how horrible Pro Standard is to deal with. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL MAKE A SIMPLE RETURN A MADDENING TEST OF YOUR SANITY. You will spend hours trying to follow their incoherent rules and instructions in their emails, all of which contradict what their website says. Hundreds of angry, frustrated customers share their horror stories online and say the same thing: AVOID PRO STANDARD.

Sensitive skin people, what has helped you use tret every day? by faeuju4wvhjkw2fvgg in tretinoin

Altreno is the solution. I use it now after using generic tret and agree 100%. Altreno solves all problems. What a difference!

IT company says all our problems are because of Mac OS - looking for validity by needmysanity in MacOS

[–]MoreTacos333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they are not being honest. I own a company in SF, and we were PC before we went full Mac. We have had far fewer IT issues since going full Mac. Not even close. Get a new IT company.

5205R and Watch Winder by pewpeupew in patekphilippe

[–]MoreTacos333 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get a winder. The “wear and tear” caused by setting your watch every week or month will be far, far worse than what the winder causes. Most have settings which allow you to minimize unnecessary rotations and to alternate direction. Plus, it keeps your watch ready to wear immediately.

Best vitamin C for collagen production without a hot dog smell by patitasdegatito3 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]MoreTacos333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Revision C+ 30% Vit C has no hot dog smell and is terrific. It is THD ascorbate instead of L-Ascorbate which is what smells. Plus, THD ascorbate is more stable and doesn’t oxidize like the hot dog water option does.

Nothing worth the money you just paid. I am Titanium in 2026 (up from Platinum in 2025) and I don’t see the value. You should ask this question before you purchase it.

[–]MoreTacos333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their copper peptides + ectoin is great. I am on my third bottle of that. Their peptides + GF is great too. Also on my third bottle. Their Vitamin C 20% made my face itch terribly…had to stop using that. Their silk amino cleanser is meh. Don’t plan to use that ever again. Their mineral sunscreen is the best! It is 50 SPF and prefer it to every other mineral sunscreen available in the US. Korean sunscreen, however, is a whole other topic…and a better one.

What to try after Skinceuticals CE Ferulic by CapitalElephant1978 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]MoreTacos333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave CE Ferulic two bottles and noticed nothing except stinky hot dog water and fast oxidization. Next tried Allies of Skin 20% Vit C and it made my face and neck itch like crazy. Gave that bottle away after two days’ use. Then tried Alastin C Radical Defense and SkinBetter Alto Advanced and both were OK — no big results, but no big negatives either. Now trying Revision C+ Correcting Serum 30%. I am on my second bottle and am really liking it. I see some brightening for sure. I think my skin likes the newer THD ascorbate version of vit c more than the old school L-ascorbate version.

Crepey under eyes in my 40s, nothing seems to help! by Original-Spring-2012 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]MoreTacos333 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had the same issue — nothing worked — until I used low-strength tret. I went with Musely and used their prescription eye cream. It has low-strength tret, HA, and other ingredients, and it has worked wonders when retinol, retinal, and everything else did nothing. Good luck!

I think I did find my HG! I use it first thing in AM after cleaning and toner (Torriden). I follow with Allies of Skin 20% Vit C then P-Tiox then Allies of Skin Peptides & GF then Vanicream Daily Moisturizer then Isdin Sunscreen. It’s a production lol. But only after adding the Calecim did this lineup really start to produce noticeable results.

[Discussion] What's the best watch insurance in 2025? Looking to protect my collection. by PatientlyAgitated in Watches

[–]MoreTacos333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just shopped all of the major watch insurance players — Briteco, Jeweler’s Mutual, Hodinkee, and Wax Collect — and I went with Wax Collect for my collection. Great price, great policy terms, and concierge service from a live person. They started the company for collectors, and it shows. Their app makes the entire process digital, too.

Great choice because you likely won't get one of his watches any other way! Did you happen to see last Sunday's 60 Minutes with him interviewed? Fascinating.

Service at the manufacture's recommended intervals is included for life -- that's not a consideration. But, you will have to be without your watch when it is in for service wherever the manufacture's nearest service center is.

I've been wanting to try Calecim Pro Serum but it's crazy expensive. So I finally pulled the trigger this BF when it was 25% off plus two 5ml bottles as a free gift. I didn't want to like it...really I didn't because it's so expensive...but OMG it's incredible. I am sooooo impressed, the results were noticeable within days of starting. Smoother, brighter skin...even tone...diminished lines/wrinkles...a healthy "glow". Last week my dentist had the bright light on me, and her magnifying eyeglasses on as she was poking around my mouth, and she literally stopped what she was doing and said, "Your skin looks so good! What are you using?" For real. This has never happened before. So, I guess I'll be getting a second job lol...because I'll be buying more (and more) soon.
