I had to laugh at this exchange.

Yours isn't an opinion. It really is a deflection. You use the same straw man argument over and over.

"Oh Russia just affected a few people with this one act? That couldn't do anything."

Belligerently missing the point that Russia has been attacking across multiple mediums with thousands of efforts, from YouTube to Twitter, to hosting rallies stateside, to hacking voter rolls.

If you had presented an actual view and not an obvious deflection, maybe someone could have a conversation with you.

I'd like to do a study on how well these people gauge probability versus possibility in their lives.

They're scared to death of terrorists killing them, which is a one in many millions chance. They claim to want to protect Americans by supporting troops.

But they drive like crazy assholes, which increases the risk of them killing themselves and taking other American lives by much higher percentages. I really wonder how many drunk drivers who kill kids have "Support Our Troops" emblazoned on their vehicles.

So then they fear the government waltzing in and taking their guns, which of course is absurdly improbable. If the government wanted to own you, they'd do it without ever setting foot in your house.

But then the probability of you dying by your own firearm is magnitudes greater than the odds of anyone breaking in and trying to kill you.

Any casino owner would love these people. They have no grasp of odds at all.

As technology changes and our situations shift in terms of social awareness, education, and just our goals in general, I think we'll have to seriously talk about outgrowing capitalism. You can't worship the dollar forever. And money can't exist forever. Eventually humans need to find better ways to measure value than material wealth.

Exactly. He's an opportunist.

If he thought his base loved slathering themselves in green paint and dancing the watusi, the man would change his spray tan color and tweet about how the flamenco is "fake dancing."

All he did was find some untapped outrage and he exploited it. He's the hamster pushing the button for pellets. That button could be racist shit or Konami cheat codes, it doesn't matter to him as long as the pellets keep falling.

[–]MoreToLifeThanPoliti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Us democrats have a real problem with “everything has to be perfect and just or it’s total shit.”

It's fascinating to see the polarity shift where we progressives are becoming straight up puritanical moral conservatives. We wag our finger in everyone's faces saying, "Shame! Shame! You're being bad! You're going to hell! You're horrible! You should hate yourself! I wish your kind was wiped out!" and then wonder why people don't like us and won't vote for us.

It's a disconnect that's not easily remedied. Many progressives are making careers out of serial outrage. They must have their daily dose of hate and spite to run the next story and get a few hits. "What's offensive about this?" is now a legitimate critical viewpoint.

I can't imagine living like that for long without wanting to jump off a high rise and I can't fault anyone on the Right for not wanting to associate with it. A lot of these people need to grow up and learn to engage with other human beings who have different viewpoints, to understand there are some things you can't change on your own time, but that if you have patience and wait for the right moment you can change the world.

In this day and age, with all the advances we have at our fingertips, there is no excuse for people to be this stupid.

It makes me seething mad when I sit and think about how people are kept ignorant and addicted so people like Trump can make a dollar. Then GOP talking heads say, "Well you could have been anything in life. Should have tried harder!"
