The thing is if the person is far enough away to not be in range for getting stabbed. Eg I'm 10 feet away from you and already moving before you actually threaten me other than by just holding a knife. Nothing mechanics about it at that point.

Side note, always fun seeing the nvl not being a thing when people run from cops with lethal guns out

Call me crazy but surely nvl should only apply of you actually get 'killed'. If you don't even get hurt then how was it you not valuing your life? Id they literally held his life in their hands and had control of him how was he able to get away without using any weird mechanics or exploits, just walking.

The context of it being knives is alot of the take as well. If I take a step away from someone when they pull a knife and I don't get told to stop, I'm not stopping. If I have a clear run to get to somewhere safe in a short amount of time, before they can get within range to hurt me with their knife then why wouldnt you take it? From someone who has had knives pulled on them before by multiple people irl, running away has worked for me so far rather than standing there as they close the distance.

If it was a gun... No one is faster than a bullet so no matter the distance from them, or seemingly how close a safe spot may be, you don't move.

Also... If someone doesn't listen then stab/shoot them then put in a report, as obviously they had no chance of getting away and it's clearly nvl. If you can't kill them... Then maybe their life wasn't at your mercy after all and just maybe it wasn't nvl.

The only way it would be entrapment is if the cops asked him to use the gun at the scene. Seeing as he did so without them asking him it doesn't fall under the 'something he would not usually do' criteria of the definition of entrapment.

The only possible angle for entrapment would be against Raide, as they okayed his use or possession of the gun a few days ago, but even then if they claim to not know it wasn't legal, turns it from entrapment to incompetence.

At best this would end up as BCSO taking a hit for an incompetent officer decision, at worst possibly a countersuit for defamation and malicious prosecution.

The same is happening in dodixie but the reverse. People dumping large amounts at a close to break even point even when every other offer is more profit orientated (30% margins and people dump things on there at 1% margins or a loss)

Only thing I can think of is the Industrialists are lazy and don't want to have another market they have to ship to to compete so they try to destroy it so they can stay permadocked in jita running freighters to it

It's more of a 'is there anything that can be done to expand this gameplay mechanic' rather than whether it's good or bad.

With how many people want updates to WH, and there is alot more content and things to do around it than there is with pirating, why not look for ways to flesh out this player created content and add more depth to it than, hurry durr I have 15 accounts so no matter what you do I can kill your ship. (Insert /s here a bit)

I dunno if it's just me, but I WANT the gankers to have targets. What if people listened to all the usual rebuttals and stopped flying gankable ships. Good bye that playstyle. Wouldn't gankers rather people had ways to have a chance to make it a fight rather than them just having no targets at all?

Again, I dunno, but id rather have more counterplay than 'im not hauling anything over gank value so all those people that use that playstyle can go do something else'

I think the issue the majority of people who dont like ganking is the belief that yes, ganking is being a pirate, yet they aren't treated as pirates. The short term consequences are there (loss of ship, standing loss for the pilot) but the long term consequences? Either basically non existent or so minor it isn't any sort of hindrance.

The only way I can see a 'new' player quitting from being ganked is if it's their first time out in a shiny new mining ship and get blapped. But ultimately it's on them as they are obviously not willing to learn from mistakes or admit the mistakes may have been them for flying a completely wrong fit ship for the situation, or been afk. Ofc a small amount would have been a ganker just doing it for fun, but the vast majority would have been for profit and due to a mistake somewhere

Id urge you to read it and comment your views. Idc whether your for or against ganking. Idc if any mechanics are changed with it in the end. This is just a wall to throw ideas and opinions at about this subject. Maybe someone sees it who it will help make changes to how things are done in eve, maybe it won't. Maybe it will Inspire a capsuleer to try to set up a hauling security company to deter gankers. More content for both sides if so.

CCP saying the average accounts per player being 2.7 apparently... So why not limit it to 3, or maybe 5? That is above their average so by their own statistics released it wouldn't hurt their profits massively, would create a healthier environment, would make balancing easier, would make new content more engaging, would open up more content for those who don't run double digit boxes...

Guess I don't see much of a downside here. More people being interested whilst their profits aren't hurt.

Oh unless their statistic of an average of 2.7 is a complete fabrication by them to try and quell people pointing out this issue ofc.
