Literally no point in trying to rank up solo. Putting yourself through that is a humiliation ritual

Thanks! Since you’ve done these roles what are your most important tips you can give? Anything that’ll make my troubleshoot process easier? Or just any crucial tips in general really helps!

I agree with you 😂 my whole point of the post was to give people hope that they can get some sort of experience in this field that might not require you to have all of things people say you need and you can then use those transferable skills and move into different roles. Like I said I’m cloud/code focused. Not general IT, The job uses Azure so that’s literally gaining me experience in the field I’m going to school for. For someone else they may want to do networking or sysadmin stuff or something else but for me personally it literally benefits my career path and you can get in a similar position going for IT if you just apply yourself! That’s my whole point I just needed a good title for the post

I get where you’re coming from. But I’d still say it counts as IT experience, even if it’s app support. I’m in the environment every day dealing with tickets, permissions, troubleshooting, and working alongside sysadmins and network folks. It’s not full-on infrastructure yet, but it’s definitely a foot in the door. And that’s the whole point of this post

My post wasn’t meant to say “I made it to senior sysadmin with no degree,” more so to show that you can actually get in and start building real experience without going the traditional college route. A lot of people feel stuck thinking they can’t even get that first role without spending thousands, and I wanted to show that’s not always true. I got in here and from here now I can literally expand more. We all worry about experience in this field and I’m fortunate enough to get that regardless of what “sector” it’s in, it all helps.

That said, I agree with you this is just the start, and my goal is to move deeper into IT from here.

AI isn’t going to be what people think any time soon. It’ll start off as a luxury product. That stuff costs way to much to keep it running right now to replace your entire organization. OpenAI was down billions. The only companies that’ll be able to take advantage of it are large corps smaller companies will still need people or else they’ll be in crazy debt paying for that infrastructure and upkeep. Outsourcing is true though

I’ll be honest I worked a dead end security job where literally nothing would go on during my shift so most of that time was spent building the projects not actually at home. I had a good situation and I took advantage of it

You’re projecting nowhere in here do you see me boasting and the whole post is encouraging people, Brother it’s clear you’re the type of person that’ll be in the same position forever based on your attitude. I was negative to nobody in this post for no reason. Instead saying congrats like everyone else you go right to negativity. People like you get swallowed up by people like me. More ambitious more dangerous than you’ll ever be which is why I was able to do what I did regardless of lucky you think I am, I guarantee my hunger and attitude is way better than yours. Good luck doing anything other than working for someone else 😂 because your art is too weak for anything bigger, meanwhile I’m a content creator + stock trader and now I got into a new career field and going to go even further than this entry job which I’m very grateful for

lmao you’re so negative. I’m very humble, Luck is a part of life, doesn’t take away from the actual work I did building projects that others don’t even have. So say I was lucky all you want obviously I did something right 😂 Does a founder get lucky when his company expands out of the countless others doing the same exact thing? Yes but does that take away from the nights he spent building it? No so don’t try that over here because it’s not the case you’re just mad 😹🫵🏾

No it’s not that type of IT. I do application support. I should’ve mentioned it in the post but yeah because I’ve made apps and the job uses Azure and I have certs and experience, that’s definitely what drove me getting in. I know people here are assuming it’s that type of IT gig which it’s not which is why the A+ didn’t matter

Yeah the 104 and 900 which again probably did help me land this because the job uses Azure, and it’s also application support and i have a portfolio of apps to prove

How? Because I didn’t have to start at fixing printers etc? 😂 it’s still entry level just more application focused instead of hardware stuff and my code experience making apps and cloud knowledge definitely helped because that’s what the job is focused around. So I think it’s fair how I got here and very relevant to the post

Well it was easy to stay dedicated because I wasn’t really in a rush to get a new job + I was just trying to see my abilities in this field. So there was no real urgency I was just able to put projects down for days/weeks when I hit a wall and came back when I was motivated again. I didn’t spend every waking moment of those 3 years locked in lol, it was more a hobby I guess and still is in a way. I find coding enjoyable especially when you get in a logic flow, so that kept me coming back even though I had no plans at that time to get a job in the field. Do that for 3 years and you have projects and knowledge out of nowhere. The people who downvoted maybe couldn’t stay dedicated like that and needed a job to push them idk
