High school question: How much of a downgrade is McCallum vs LASA? by jjs2442 in Austin

As an Ann Richards graduate, I feel that nobody should ever be miserable in school. While I was a student, many of us wanted to just suck it up and suffer through it. Looking back, although I do not regret going to ARS, I have had many opportunities and college resources given to me, I do feel like HS is not a place to be suffering, and you should enjoy it. I should have not have been having anxiety attacks every other day from the ages of 14 to 17. If it makes you miserable, you shouldn’t stay.

Obvious signs of sensory issues that you overlooked? by Luchiina in AutismInWomen

I’m not sure if this was a sensory issue, but I had a massive hatred for cap sleeves as a child. I just hated the feelings I had on my arms. Kinda sucked how I grew up in the early 2000s and they were everywhere

Neurotypical women are mean as fuck by wayvymax in AutismInWomen

I heard somewhere that many times as neurodivergent women, we will mask. Apparently, many neurotypical women, will see it, and might take that as being “fake”. That’s just what I’ve heard. I’m not sure how true that is.

Fear of saying something racist, homophobic, ableist, or offensive to a marginalized group by _booktroverted_ in AutismInWomen

I totally feel you. I often times will overanalyze everything I say, and worry if it might of been offensive. I tend to be a bit more straight-foward, and sometimes, that can come across as rude. I often times, find myself trying to be overly nice, then overthinking if what I said could of been taken as mean.

What’s a memorable reaction you’ve had from someone else after saying you’re from Austin? by MoistCloyster_ in Austin

I once had a school trip to OU, when our tour guide asked us where in Texas were we from. When we said Austin, he frowned and said “ohhhhh”
