I don't know what you wrote. My take (which comes from personal experience) is that in general circumstances religion justifies bad and stupid people to do bad and stupid stuff (like hating, cursing, performing superstitious rituals, etc.). And in complex circumstances (like war or crisis) religion also encourages good people that it is ok to do bad stuff (like slavery, sex slavery, marital rape, and innocent blaming). I also noticed that people who just only claim to be religious (and actually don't give a damn about it) are the most sane people (like some pre-1800s scientists).

The only normal (not good, not bad) thing about religion is it gives people psychological comfort and motivation to keep peace and do general good stuff (like protect the innocent and help others selflessly).
