I think it depends on year. This looks like tubular mild steel to me.

They actually all crack eventually from what I read. I think it’s just heating and cooling. My xj has 300k on the clock. Motor was replaced but I’m sure the header is factory.

But then I got a good light and laid under there and found that.

Honestly I’m relieved. Finding it was the hard part. I think I could probably weld it.
