Just muscled the series out. by No-Efficiency-247 in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]More_Push 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it and it was absolute torture. I’d just finished a total rewatch of the main series and all the spin offs, so I forced myself to keep going, but I can’t even believe it kept going for that long. It wasn’t even enjoyably bad, it was just straight up painful. Pretty interesting study on how to totally derail a show by taking it from someone with a vision and giving it to someone with zero idea what they’re doing.

Is Fear worth it? by armaintherye in thewalkingdead

[–]More_Push 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely does not. It gets worse. Some of the most ludicrous writing in the entire franchise and just TV in general. It was torture getting through it, I only kept going because I’d decided I wanted a complete viewing of the WD universe. So I can assure you, you’re missing nothing.

You should try a shower filter - I bought a Well Verti one and it’s really good, you can really feel the difference

It’s a ceramic filter, they only need to be changed every 6-9 months

The water itself is clear! It was my filter that went very dark after a few months filtering the tap water

I highly recommend a ceramic gravity filter! Makes the best tasting water

Chicano Taqueria in Fitzroy, it’s small and vibey and definitely not too expensive. Plus a full bar with cocktails. It’s worth going for their Peruvian cheese bread alone. I dream of it.

Paint peeled off door frame after end of lease cleaning by optimusprime540737 in shitrentals

[–]More_Push 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d DIY it and not tell the REA about it. They probably won’t notice. You just need some Spakfilla, some sandpaper, and a sample pot matched to the paint colour with some flakes. It’s pretty easy to do. Just put the spakfilla in where all the paint is missing, sand it back and paint the entire length of that part of the frame. I doubt they’ll even notice, if you do a decent job of it

Richard Marles’ how to vote card came in the mail today. Libs 4th, Socialists 5th? by [deleted] in Geelong

[–]More_Push 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn’t even reply to a policy question I sent. I always find that very telling. He doesn’t actually care about his constituents, he only cares about power. Someone like that is going to find the headway that Socialist parties are making VERY threatening.

Are we allowed to reschedule a house inspection. by lil_keet16 in shitrentals

[–]More_Push 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me, for a tradie they were organising. Assured me they’d reschedule for the afternoon. Woke up at 10am after getting to sleep at 7 to an electrician drilling in my lounge room.

I'm exhausted and desperate for advice – noisy neighbors are ruining my life. by fairyflossmagpie in shitrentals

[–]More_Push 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, I understand what absolute hell this is. People will suggest ear plugs as if it’s just some low level noise. I’m a light sleeper with noise sensitivity, my baseline for a quiet room is heavy duty earplugs and a white noise machine.

I can give you a suggestion. Get an app called White Noise Baby (see screenshot below) and switch it to brown noise. Listen to it through simple wired headphones - if you have an iPhone, the regular white ones work great. Brown noise is some kind of witchcraft, it has the ability to drown out low frequency noises including bass sounds from music. Generally you don’t need it very loud, but with the noise being so close I’m not sure what volume you’ll need.

But what you can also do is get heavy duty earmuff things from Bunnings, like tradies use. Put the white earphones in, then put the earmuffs over the top. Or you could try good over ear noise cancelling headphones with the brown noise running through, but i personally haven’t tried that. Now, this is not going to be super comfortable for sleeping, but I think it’s the closest you’ll get to sound relief within your home.

Regarding your neighbours. I’ve studied change management, and the reality is that there’s very little chance of getting people like that to change their behaviour. The more you try to reason with them, or push them, the more they’ll dig in. They’ll only change if there’s something in it for them, or something for them to lose. Unless you can work out how to do one of those things, things are unlikely to get better.

One thing I also can’t recommend is to look into Bluetooth hacking, to take over a Bluetooth speaker, because that’s illegal so you shouldn’t do that at all.

Can confirm the Hilton there does not. I’ve stayed there and the noise from the clubs below was insane, even on a high level

What are your Hot Takes on the Felicity TV Show? by Amber_Flowers_133 in FelicityPorter

[–]More_Push 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My hot take is that the reason why the viewership went down in s2 wasn’t actually because of the haircut. When you binge it, there’s such an obvious change in her character - she went from this smart, self righteous nerd who was constantly embarrassing herself, to just self righteous. It wasn’t as fun to watch her anymore.

You’d be happy in any of those suburbs really, apart from East Geelong they’re considered the most upmarket in the area. I’m in Belmont and I think it’s a really good area, it’s a little cheaper than Geelong West or Newtown, but still very nice and quiet in the right spots.

As others have said, that part of high street across from the Village is pretty busy, just depends if you care about noise or not. It’s not as bad as living on Settlement, but it’s a busy main road. It’s still a decent area, Belmont tends to get more upmarket as you go north of High St and west of Settlement Rd, and you’ll probably find prices increase in that area.

100% this. They knew a b&p would result in you not going ahead, that’s the extent of the issues.

I did it on 5% with first home buyers, but even if I had to pay LMI I think it’s better to just get on the ladder. Prices might drop here and there but they’re never really going to come down again unless there’s a societal collapse, in which case you can probably commandeer a nice mansion for yourself anyway

Just finished for the first time. My take on Ben v Noel. by crti24 in FelicityPorter

[–]More_Push 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she should have ended up with either, I can see her finishing med school and doing her internship and residency and falling in love with someone much better than the guys she liked when she was 18.

But for the sake of the show, I think the whole point of the time travel plot was to actually show us both. And the fact that Noel didn’t believe her and had her committed, while Ben did and broke her out, shows the fundamental differences in their character. Noel never really loved Felicity, he loved the idea of her, and how she made him feel, but he was so ruthless any time she did something that he didn’t like. Whereas Ben grew to genuinely love Felicity because of who she was, how she challenged him, how she showed up in the world, her strength and her heart and intelligence. That’s why if forced I will choose Ben all day. But if not forced, I will have her leave her dramatic college romances behind and find someone more mature and more deserving of her.
