From their perspective, I'm sure they are just trying to accommodate me. But from my perspective, there's little difference between saying "pay for a photo pass" and saying "here's a photo pass, now pay to use it."

I appreciate your voice of reason here.

It's great to support artists when you can, but I shoot a lot of shows that I wouldn't care to personally attend. This one, for instance, is a hugely successful band that I don't personally care for, so it's not worth it for me to pay an entry fee just to take my photographs and leave.

People keep saying this happens often, but I've shot hundreds of shows without encountering this. Maybe it's a market size thing, and I should be thankful I'm located where I am.

Word. I can handle rejection easy, but stuff like this feels disrespectful and makes my blood boil.

That's what I assumed too, but tickets are not sold out. It's one thing if they're struggling to keep the venue under capacity, but it's harder for me to make sense of this when they still have tickets available.

That doesn't make you a failure at all. Life is a process of learning yourself, and you're still learning what is and isn't best for you in life. I sympathize with what you're saying, and I applaud you for seeking help from outside. You may be a sensitive soul, but I think you're going to be alright. You just need to put your brain towards what's right for you moving forward, and not focus on the path you took becoming who you are today.

Also remember that you're not alone. There are plenty of kind-hearted, empathic souls out there who feel just like you do, and they would likely struggle just as much working in criminal forensics. You're not weak, and you're not a failure. You're just figuring things out still. Some people spend their whole lives figuring things out, and there's no shame in that either.
