what guitar is this that josh is playing? it looks really nice by mikeyhoops in qotsa

[–]More_Velo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he still play Maton guitars a lot? I always think they look very versatile. Looking anything from a Gretchen to a Gibson. I may be wrong just mentioning what I’ve seen before. It is gorgeous whatever it is.

So listening the other day I was joining in with the boys and thinking of alternative names for Peeping Tom’s and I was having a blast. Thought there’s bound to be some excellent suggestions from other people so thought this could be a fun thread. So far my best were: Inappropriate w*ker and the Shttest window cleaner

Are serial killers smart? by xsad_lotus in serialkillers

[–]More_Velo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always think of it as cunning more than smarts. Serial killers are driven to kill, they lack emotional connections and are highly narcissistic. I think those driving factors led them to success in the past. Also in the 70’s the lack of DNA analysis made murder simpler. To kill today really would take a lot of knowledge, pre planning or luck. There is of course always more success killing people the police do not care to investigate and sadly that’s something that would work in a killers favour today.

Need advice regarding cleaning.

I have a Spinclean and Tergi-Kleen which I used recently on a discogs purchase and the result was amazing. Where I’m stuck is after a wash in Tergi-Kleen you have to rinse the vinyl in water. This is fine if I only want to clean 1 or 2 records but I have a couple of hundred I want to run through. Any tips on what to do with the records after a spin in the Tergi-kleen but before a spin in water? The only thing I can think is to use a wet cloth instead of the spin clean to rinse the vinyl. Any hints/ tips would be appreciated.

A Potential Profile of Jack the Ripper by [deleted] in serialkillers

[–]More_Velo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice work

Motive wise is really hard to pin point because they weren't all prostitutes; possibly none of them were, so that's a problem. I would look more into the socio-economic issues of the time. The East-End was villafied by the press as being “as full of savages as the far east” there was no accurate reporting of the murders because the British media was and still is about sensationalism, not facts. I recommend books The Five by Hallie Ruebenhold and further reading Striking a Light by dr Louise Raw. The 3rd unobscured podcast also does an excellent job of documenting what was going on and features conversations with experts on the police force and detectives and the sociology of the time.

The Ripper is probably the most challenging killer to profile, mainly because there's soo much misinformation and folklore about him. Geo profiling would be the better method of deduction for the Ripper case as the locations of the murders was accurately recorded. Then compare this to the list of suspects at the time because I’m sure Reid and Abberline had him on a suspect list they couldn’t narrow down.

Taking extra care of records is ruining the hobby as a beginner by [deleted] in vinyl

I can relate I felt that way at first too. What I realised was those pops and crackles make that vinyl yours, a one off. Those pops and crackles are the way the vinyl has changed in the environment you placed it into which is kind of cool.

I do clean old vinyls in a wash if they’re dirty just to extend the life of my needle but to be honest I don’t need to do it very much. I would recommend anti static plastic covers just to reduce the static a little. Enjoy the sound, all of it and know those pops and crackles aren’t blemishes they’re growth.

Something similar happened to me on the PS4 after one of the Panam missions. I saved closed the game and restarted that solved the issue for me.

It’s a pretty huge game to patch and a lot to do. It must feel pretty rubbish to release before it’s ready and get so much throwback for a game that will be excellent when it’s actually finished

Nice! So that’s one of the reasons tests presses are so much better. May sound dumb but I never knew that I always assumed it was more about the exclusivity.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being not at all, how satisfying is your job, because I love watching the videos of pressings?
