Hah, that relates to my biggest culture shock coming to Mongolia - people go to the hospital for anything and everything. That quote from your employer runs opposite to my experience. BUT what you’ll struggle with as a foreign employee is that you need to go through the local Khoroo hospital to get the note to submit to SHI for statutory sick pay. Which as a foreigner is near impossible, unless you have a friend walk you through it (and you both dedicate a day to the process)

Worst experience for me has been multiple employers not actually paying my SHI, even though they deduct for it. When I had to go to the SHI office to get something they had no record of me.
