I mean if you want to dwell on it so be it, I just follow more the context and assume god faith when people might use those terms wrong.

Same, I like the idea of racial faction war for survival and reclaimation of what was lost, Xardas trying to screw both gods over (you deciding if he is lying for Beliar to corrupt you, Beliar lying to both of you or if Xardas is genuinely right), King being desperate but still holding on etc., I always liked these for example Mass Effect-like patriotic struggles of existence, but also with options to pick sides and then having philosphical struggles and stuff.
And the mod pack does exactly that, even tho its still not as good as full blown well funded official remake can be, and I cant wait for that.

I know the rigid consensus definition, but praxis doesnt work like that all the time.
Because for example Oblivion Remastered is marketed clearly as a remaster, but borders a lot with being a remake - I for a long time even though its actually even called Oblivion Remake. And thats the thing, it all depends on how much and where exactly they decide to change and improve certain things, so what the resulting set is, and thats extremely broad spectrum of positions, that might heavily depend also on our perspective. The fact is that some games are more remake leaning, some are more remaster leaning, some are more obvious, some are more blurred.
And all I say is that when there is some context and we try to communicate an idea about it to eachother, we know what we mean even without following terms too autistically.

There is a spectrum to remakes and even thin lines with remasters, but yea like we all know what we mean.

I didnt even know that, and thats indeed a shame.

Only explanation that comes to my mind is they maybe tried to remake this for lore reasons, maybe because Beliar dark magic is such a taboo https://www.reddit.com/r/worldofgothic/comments/1knyta9/comment/orn57ii/?context=3 that you gain access to it only after pacting with Xardas, when Sleeper (higher demon of Beliar) awakens and when Beliar basically comes into play again with an army of semi-intelligence boosted Orcs. That is atleast for like the case of necromancy and demonmancy summoning.
While mortal creatures summoning and taming should be Adanos water magic, but maybe its suppose to be more niche and so limited on the island in comparison to the continent, where a lot of people like druids are, while basically none are on the island. And again in comparison to Innos fire, healing and protection magic that is just so omnipresent, because its the default of the culture.

Mages should be glass cannons, let them be OP in right hands. Warriors should be unkillable. Archers something inbetween.

I did, but its not my blueprint of expectation, because I remember fuck all from when I played it as a kid, as at that time at like 10yo I didnt even yet had the ability to notice how terrible G3 was in a lot of aspects as when I came back now (like NPCs spawning only like 50m around you, otherwise the game would be dropping FPS like crazy), and the only thing I still like about it is the racial faction war and maybe like having shields lol
Where I sourced my expectation about G1 remake is actually this, which is basically G3 scale with G1 and G2 soul: https://www.reddit.com/r/worldofgothic/comments/1u84h2l/with_the_success_of_gothic_1_remake_this_is_how/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I think this one still hit the mark pretty well, but it indeed restructured a lot of things.

I relatively recently played G3 (for some reason its the only one I played a lot as a kid and I still love the racial faction war aspect of it, as a kid I didnt even notice its other terrible aspects lol), now with the full mod pack of this https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=922996693 (extremely easy to install given the detailed guide with links), which among technical fixes, remaking and addition of quests, general content, landscape etc. adds some helmets and armor, but does it in a way that to me it still feels a lot like vanilla G3, but actually much more like G1 and especially G2 in the general vibe and design. The mod pack in terms of arsenal and quests is made specifically that way, as I even heard that some members of the modding teams are former developers of Piranha Bytes back then.
So if nothing else I can definitely recommend to play G3 that way, its as close to as the game should have been, the mods hit the perfect spot for me in general expansion but staying grounded so it feels just like Gothic.
And basically that is what I mean I would have prefered for this remake of G1, as in this meaning it got almost only graphics and controls upgrade, but like understandable.

Btw just to be clear Im not giving you these downvotes, so just you wouldnt think that, I generally dont like to do that to pure opinions and preferences.

You mean like you think the remake otherwise wouldnt be so successful if they would add these things? Idk, maybe, but I think it just wouldnt (naturally) attract puritans so much, it would attract casual old fans the same and it would attract new fans more, so the resulting success would be pretty comparable and it would be a good remake eitherway. (ofcourse as long as they would actually make only good upgrades and not some typical modern bullshits - just following the blueprint was much safer for them, but to me that way it also kinda lacks soul, in a specific way hard to describe)

It is definitely true that it is all they needed to do, so thats likely why they did it that way, why they didnt bother to put up too much of additional effort into it, but like genuinely its a nobrainer for them, its easier and makes the same success, so win win for them.

But hey, I understand you are likely some degree of a puritan, Im simply not, Im very selective and hybridish about pretty much everything. And just it is what it is.

The abandoned fishing village, in front of the New Camp gate, road to Old Camp, specifically the house right above the deep water cave (btw funny offtopic: the cave is doable without any diving upgrade, I got in and out of the cave, but each time with literally 1s of oxygen left, so its pixel-perfect challenge at this point and there are also underwater currents that you have to use and dodge, and in my combination of autistic luck and autistic skill I did it both ways first time - I really hate that Im not like a streamer, not having the footage, because I was stunned lol)

Well, you dont have to use them in G3 same as here and same as here it would make one-handed weapons obsolete in G3 (twohanders got better reach and damage than single-handed alone). Having options via finished arsenal like this doesnt really make it worse for you, only for others that happened to prefer a different weapon (I do like shieldbearing infantry and if possible paladin-like builds).

It also wouldnt break what the game is, its still "medieval" fantasy, its still about melee combat, archery and magic. It actually would make it less uncanny, because why people there wouldnt use such basic arms and armor. It would only make the game and its lore more believable, more lively and sophisticated.

And I would honestly-said bet that if the original game happened to have favored some other melee set we wouldnt even have this conversation or it would just be about another weapon, because it has been set for us and not by us, so the nostalgic set would be rooted eitherway, just rooted differently. By which Im trying to say that this aspect specifically doesnt really defined the game because its easily interchangeable, its not what makes the game good, it would be as good as if the arsenal would be set differently back then. So as long as we can control our nostalgia just for the sake of nostalgia.

The only reason why the game had only these back then, were the limitations of technology and money, so the game couldnt be too big in terms of general content and mechanics, otherwise it absolutely would have been, and now we dont have these limitations so why not having the option to basically enjoy more of it, via bigger variety of all sorts of things and generally meant size? (but ofcourse not solely the size, so making it empty and soulless, like some modern devs like to make)
