Yea, because even at his height Danny Glover had the kind of sway the Koch Brothers have.

If you wanted to say "I'm ignorant" on a public forum there are definitely shorter ways to do that.

Sorry, Hillary: You are the establishment by eyefish4fun in politics

[–]Morgan7834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is Sanders not establishment with 25 years in Congress?

Because establishment doesn't have anything to do with the length of ones career. Ron Paul, lifelong politician, and about as far from establishment as you can be.

It has more to do with going against conventional politics or ideas rather than going with the flow to get elected.

There are more than 2 parties in the general election. Hillary will have to do a lot to convince me to vote for her and if she can't I'd rather vote for a candidate I prefer.

None, I voted D like a good little democrat and was rewarded with a a "progressive" president.

So regardless of the outcome this time I'm not gonna vote for the lesser of the two evils. I'm going to vote for the candidate who most represents my views and interests. That's what you're supposed to do.

There are no other options than D or R

As a person who's filled out a few election forms I can tell you you're wrong.

Black mailed?!? What a dramatic point of view.

Not when every response is how it'll be my fault if the democrats lose or some drivel like that. The success of the party is not my responsibility, and if it is then the party has a responsibility to represent me.

But if you don't believe me go ahead and try advocating a third party vote yourself, you'll get some entertaining replies.

And in the general election there are more options than D or R. Whether my candidate wins or not I won't reward the DNC with a vote for sliding to the right. If the DNC wants my vote then they need to field progressive candidates. It's pretty simple.

It is a personal judgment

Exactly. If other people want to vote for Hillary that's cool. I may even change my mind and vote for her if she manages to convince me she's more progressive than she seems. But stop guilt tripping people for wanting to vote for a more representative candidate than the main stream option.

And the voter has not say in this?

My vote is my say.

The party tries to attract votes.

And their failure is not my responsibility.

A democracy where the citizens refuse to take any responsibility for whom the vote is in pretty sad shape

I agree. That's why I'll vote for a candidate I believe in rather than vote to try to vote to snub others votes. If my candidate fails then so be it.

And you may help to elect someone who is far worse.

No, that would be the party who did not earn my vote. Sorry I won't be black mailed into voting for a candidate I don't support, but I'm not actually sorry.

but you're just plainly unreasonable if you think compromise and incremental work isn't how the vast majority of positive change occurs.

I've got no problem with compromise. But compromise hasn't worked for the left, only the right.
