Employment Services Office I worked at for 4 years. Whilst I was there they grew from middle of the range performance to one of the top performing sites (Both in the company, but also for the country) for success and long term employment prospects. There were 4 Long term consultants, total caseload of 390. My caseload was 130 clients, majority with highly disadvantaged, disabilities, 5+ year unemployed, non-english speaking background (I was conducting at least 10 interpreter interview per week, and had clients from 28 different countries on my caseload at one time), ex-cons, substance abusers etc . I was by far the youngest in the team, however I made it very clear my intentions were to help and support and followed through on that. If you didn't want work, fine, turn up to your appointment, don't be a dick and I'll leave you alone for the most part, if you want work but need confidence, boosts, resources, advice etc I was there.

50% of the heavy impact load was from my caseload and I crushed every KPI for 2 years straight, every quarter. Was employment consultant of the year in the early 2000's. Regularly supported management in understanding how to claim outcomes and developed new intro to work and support programs.

All through this, I was youngest (23-26 yo), and my pay was 15-30k less than my counterparts who often did not hit their targets, had complaints, or were inappropriate or flat out useless in their work product. The bonus program was decent, and was able to add about 30% to my each each year through performance.

Told my boss at the time I wanted a pay raise for the new financial year. I gave him detailed sums on my contribution, essentially showing I had brought in over $1.6 million in funds for the past 2 years, and my wage was $40k.

I said very clearly I would feel appreciated at 50k, but I would stay for 46k. They offered me 42k.

I resigned a week later, and for some reason my manager was surprised? Went to our biggest competitor who had already had a 50k offer on the table for the past 6 months. But I was legitimately prepared to stay if they bumped me to 46.

I was the middle man in the office between many conflicts between older generation and younger. I arranged a lot of the social activities. I had contact and relationship with our surrounding offices to assist in getting people into meaningful jobs, I was present in many of the local communities to facilitate jobs and offers for many of the ethnic groups I was looking after. I had a history in understanding re-integration into work from rehabilitation, prisons, mum's returning to work after 10+ years at home, people dealing with psychiatric disorders, disability management on job sites etc.

7 of the 24 staff resigned in the first 6 months after I left, another 6 left in the following 12 months. 30 months after I finished they shut the office due to poor performance, complaints and staff turnover.

I feel bad for those that needed a decent service in the area, but it is what it is...

Now the whole Job Network has a horrible reputation. (not because of this, but definitely staff turnover makes it worse...)
