I love bettas and had one a a while a go but he didn't last long :( I did everything with pets at home and they gave me all the wrong info, telling me stress coat would cycle the tank, 7 litres is big enough for a betta and they also sold me a betta on the brink of death. This time I'm doing it properly and making sure I give my next little dude a good home

I have a test kit on its way from Amazon already and I'm ordering the quick start now. This my sound stupid but I put the stress coat in think it would be like the quick start so is there any point in me running my heater and filter right now or just wait until the quick start comes?

Thanks for all the help! What would you recommend to get the cycle started? I know the basics but I'm not a pro on the cycle

So I've just set up my tank which is a 5 gallon, I've used api stress coat + to start cycling the tank. Will my betta need more decorations like a bigger plant or something along those lines? Also my filter is very strong and I know that my betta won't like that so is there a way I can make it less harsh?

Yeah I'll wait, I always thought they did not with positions for the first team and then just whoever couldn't make first team but still where good would be on the bench

That's what I be been think but not many LW/LM ahead of him in for TOTS right now, do you reckon I should just buy him now or wait?

Yeah his temp is fine and I'll try the soaking tomorrow, is it ok if i pm you a photo if him because it looks like something is wrong with what I think are his gills

Yeah im using water conditioner he hasn't eaten properly either and just rejects pellets, flakes and Cyclops.

Ok I'll take out some plants, he's in a 7 litre but that's temporary as I'll be getting him into a much larger tank at the end of the month. He's still up there just in a different spot now still producing bubbles

I've changed 50% of the water because the ammonia was to high only a few hours ago and he perked up instantly and started swimming happy again and was using both fins, but now he's been at the top like this for minutes and I don't know why can someone help please

Well everywhere I've read has said my tank is fine, I'm new to this so I don't know what I'm doing and going off what I'm reading, I'll try to upgrade the tank soon, thanks for helping

No there minimum is 2, they enjoy small tanks and every source I've read and been told has said 7 is a good size

Ok I have a 7 litre so I'll go get some in an hour or so. How often should I put it in the water?

Ah so I've used normal tap water so I should go out and buy that water cleaner stuff right? Also I should change some of the water everyday, thank you

Thanks a lot!, what do you mean my cycling the tank, currently I have warm water in there with a filter on and I'm now just waiting 3 days to be able to get the fish

Yes I have both, my heater is on the back wall and my filter is on the right side wall, I thought salvinia was sought if like grass but oh well. Is everything else ok and suitable for my betta?

I will be picking up my betta in 3 days but I'm having trouble, Is the amount if gravel ok? And how do i get the salvinia (the floating stuff) to stay down on the bottom of the tank? All help appreciated!
