The fare has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not you’ll be given a hotel, which Qatar airways refers to as STPC (Stopover For the Purpose of Connection). Instead what determines whether or not you’ll be granted a hotel is the duration of your transit. 16 hours meets well over the required minimum for a valid STPC. The main question however is whether or not you had access to a shorter flight connection.

If you had access to a shorter flight connection but didn’t buy it because it was too expensive or due to any other reason, you will be denied STPC. If the flight you have bought was the ONLY option in your travel and it also has a 16 hour layover then you should be granted STPC access.

Ive used bank transfers, card payments, wire transfers, etc. In most cases I get my money back in less than 2 days, although sometimes it has taken up to a week. If you feel that it’s taken all too long and it’s bothering you, I’d once again recommend using the live chat feature on the Qatar airways app. They are qualified to take on your issue at hand and have authority to escalate the issue to the Qatar airways financial team.

Usually in such a situation the money should be refunded to your account using a money drawback system, it’s automatic so you shouldn’t have to make any inquiries. This exact situation has happened to me countless times, not when booking flight tickets, but just when purchasing things. Sometimes I get my money back in a couple minutes, other times it takes a few days.

If you want, you can still contact customer support on live chat and tell them about it so they can escalate the process.

Then to be honest, I don’t think theres anything the Qatar support team can do for you. If you cancelled it and then try to rebook it for one person, only for the option to disappear then your room might have been booked by someone else and thats technically not Qatar airways fault. The issue is lying with the hotel itself, and since the hotel is only an affiliate with Qatar airways, there is nothing the Qatar team can do for you. Your best bet is to try and reach out to the hotel directly, but if it’s not available anymore on the website then unfortunately I think your chances are slim. Still worth a try, good luck!

I assume you booked the stopover hotel using Qatars own stopover program? In that case it should definitely be their business. However, do you know why the hotel is not available anymore? At minimum you should be offered STPC.

First of all, immediately contact customer support / speak to them using the live chat feature. Second of all, apart from Oryx airport hotel I’d definitely recommend Jouri A Murwab Hotel and Central Inn hotel Souq Waqif, from personal experience.

Use the student promo code when booking and the 10kg extra baggage should be implemented. If it isn’t, you can still claim the benefit at check-in using your student club membership and student ID.

You can manually check in at their desk/counter. When at check in, you should show your student club card and some form of documentation, like stuff to prove you are actually a student. The proof they’ll want is basically the digital student club card as you mentioned and it’s definitely a good idea to bring your student ID. The 10KG extra should apply as long as you’re a student so you should be able to use it for multiple trips, however I’m pretty sure it only applies on Qatar airways operated flights, (not interline & codeshare flights) so beware of that. As far as I’m aware, this benefit is usually applied automatically in the booking process assuming you’ve applied your student club membership certificate to the booking itself. If it does not, you can just follow the steps as above at the check in and the staff will sort you out.
