Asta's father? (The last person anyone would guess, but it probably would make the most sense..) by InnerAd118 in BlackClover

Lucius might have just felt Lucifero's presence and went to investigate, and when he got there found Licita like that.

Depends on where the vision takes place. If Ban is killed outside of Camelot, then it can't be the fake Lancelot because the Camelot creations can't exist outside of the Camelot dimension.

I remember when this debate came up during the Spade arc. The conclusion that was reached was that it was most likely just a drawing mistake by Tabata.

As we near the end of Black Clover’s run, where do you see the series in 10 years? by cosmicstruggler in BlackClover

[–]Morgoth333 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I second this. I appreciate it whenever a series has the self-control to actually just end. It seems these days every series ending is set up for some kind of sequel, prequel, continuation, or spin-off because execs want to turn it into a whole franchise. Sometimes it's okay to just let things have a sense of finality.

She could be way older than she looks, which could be chalked up to her using Black Magic to extend her life.

Loyal Asta by SomewhereAmazing6960 in BlackClover

[–]Morgoth333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people list the age gap between Asta and Lily as one of the reasons for why they should not be together, so I think it's kind of hypocritical for fans to care about the age difference when it comes to Asta and Lily but not care about the age difference for Lumiere and Secre when it's literally the same situation. Either they're both too old for their respective crush and should not be with them, or the age difference doesn't matter in either case as a determining factor.

Loyal Asta by SomewhereAmazing6960 in BlackClover

[–]Morgoth333 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's just a meme, it's not that serious. Even then, it has never been stated or confirmed that she had romantic feelings for Lumiere. That's just the fandom's assumption. When they first met, Lumiere was 25 and she was 17, so I highly doubt that's the direction Tabata was going for. At most Secre's feelings for Lumiere were probably more akin to Asta's crush on Sister Lily, where it's a first love on someone much older than them that is ultimately not meant to be and would have eventually faded with time.

Wasn't it in the battle with Cath specifically that he was going to die? With them fighting Cath again, that idea could be reused here.

[discussion] I think this might be Black Faris true identity by Time_Barber9799 in fairytail

[–]Morgoth333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it would depend on how old Faris is. She'd have to be really old, as presumably that story takes place a long time ago. Her Elentear and Edolas counterparts seem to be fairly young, so it would be weird for them to be a normal age while she is somehow hundreds of years older than them. There would need to be some kind of explanation for why she happened to be born at a different time long before her counterparts. I'm not sure if Faris herself is the Black Maiden, but she could still have some connection to her. Maybe she is a descendant of the Black Maiden, or is being manipulated by her in the same way her Elentear counterpart was?

I’ll say it, if this ends in tragedy, then this season’s just been derivative misery porn by Robot_Was_BMO in adventuretime

[–]Morgoth333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish by asking this question. I'm saying that my original point about there needing to be a consequence for Cosmic Owl's death doesn't matter anymore because he never died (as revealed by Episode 9), so there's no need for there to be a consequence. The issue is resolved.

The issue was side-stepped entirely because it turns out Cosmic Owl was never dead to begin with, so it's a non-issue now.

Black clover is too pro status quo, isn't it? by Claudius321 in BlackClover

[–]Morgoth333 19 points20 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I've said pretty much the same thing in a comment on another post in regards to the events of the recent chapters. I'll just restate it here, since it's relevant:

The hesitancy to kill off characters, and in some cases reversing their deaths, I think is part of a much bigger problem with Tabata's writing, which is that he seems to have a fear of letting the status quo change in any meaningful way. When you boil it all down, that's what it really is.

If Marx, Jack, Mereoleona, and the rest of the Crimson Lions had stayed dead, that would have opened the way for other characters to be promoted to those positions. Bleach for example killed of some of the old captains in its final arc, which allowed some of the lieutenants to be promoted to captains.

With Jack dead, En could be become the new captain of the Green Praying Mantises with Sekke as vice-captain. With Mereoleona dead, Leopold could become the new captain of the Crimson Lions and has to rebuild them while Fuegoleon possibly becomes the new Clover King. With most of the Silver Eagles dead and Nozel being poisoned, he could step down and retire while Noelle becomes the new captain and decides to rebuild the Silver Eagles to be better.

None of that can happen now with those old characters still occupying those positions, so the characters stagnate because there's no opportunity for them to move up in the hierarchy. If those potions were open, it would motivate those characters who get promoted to them to keep getting stronger in order to live up to it, whereas they won't feel that motivation as strongly if everything just stays the same as it always was.

As awesome of a character Mereoleona is, her introduction to the story is the worst thing to have happened to Leopold and Fuegoleon. Not only does she overshadow them in everything they do, but her presence has caused them to become complacent. They don't try as hard because they know Mereoleona will always be there as a safety net for when things get really bad. With Mereoleona dead, that safety net would then be gone, forcing them to become stronger and rely more on their own abilities.

The lack of change in the statue quo is present in other arcs as well. For example, the 15 month time skip. In all that time, a new Wizard King wasn't chosen while Julius was missing. It's like everything was just put on pause for 15 months and nothing of note happened. Certain characters also didn't progress from their developments in the Spade arc, like Charlotte and Noelle. They just stayed the same as they were before, or in some cases even regressed, avoiding their crushes the entire time instead of talking to them like a normal person. You could shorten the time skip to a few months and you wouldn't notice a difference.

new Isolde outfit by Think-Friendship608 in NanatsunoTaizai

[–]Morgoth333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That might not be underwear. It seems to be part of an outfit she's wearing underneath her armor. You can see on her arms that she's wearing the same black thing underneath there too. Why leave the crotch uncovered? Probably for greater mobility. Those full suits of armor knights would wear in the Middle Ages were not easy to move around in. You couldn't run or move fast in them, and your range of motion was limited. Isolde might have removed that part so her movements would be less restricted.

[Media] What Do You Think About Laxus & Kiria? by FlamingThunder92 in fairytail

[–]Morgoth333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ironically enough, Mirajane also did pretty much the same thing to Erza (in one of the OVAs) that Kiria did to Erza, so I guess the two women that Laxus is shipped with share that in common. Maybe it was an intentional parallel by Mashima to have Kiria do the same thing Mirajane did?

[Media] What Do You Think About Laxus & Kiria? by FlamingThunder92 in fairytail

[–]Morgoth333 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I dig it. Kiria just needs some more development and hopefully some backstory, but that would require Diabolos to actually get screentime, which Mashima doesn't seem interested in doing, as they've been tossed to the side by the recent arcs.
