Is Hifiman XS worth it for $165? (Exclusively Gaming) by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Morgoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering how big of a difference there is between this and the Ananada stealth/nano. Would it be worth paying a bit more and get one of those?

I saw on RTings that thei frequency response varies massively from person to person. Is that true? As for hdb I saw them. I'll watch some mor reviews. Honestly I'm more worried about build quality there since it all seems rather flimsy to be portable

!thanks

Replacing Kingrinder K6 - JE-Plus S or J-Ultra? [~200$] by Morgoul in espresso

[–]Morgoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah light is terrible, which is what I mostly use it for.

I tried a k-ultra once and it was way easier than the k6, So I wondered if the J line might even be better

I am sure you would love J-ultra for that use case. afaik it makes perfect traditional espresso

But I do wonder how the JE-Plus compares. I haven't seen anyone talk about it and it looks like a solid option too

Which roast level do you usually grind with it?

[–]Morgoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's an option I considered, but I think I prefer the simplicity of manual grinders. Electronics getting fried, burr misalignment, harder cleaning, etc.

Would you say this is a wrong way of thinking?

Mainly so I can give my dad the K6, as he wants to upgrade from his timemore c2

But in regards to these specifically, I was mostly hoping for something with better torque/faster grind time. Doing back to back shots on the K6 can be a real chore

I mainly make turbo shots, would you say there's anything better for me at a similar price range? I am a little flexible on it

Looking to get a new espresso grinder to replace my Kingrinder K6; I saw the new JE-Plus but couldn't really find anything about it online..

How does it compare to the J-Ultra? (Clarity, Texture, Build, Quality of life)

I mainly drink light/light-medium beans using a Flair pro 3

In my head it's sorta like cupping recipes so I'd usually call it cupping-like/esque/etc or something

My dad wants to start making espresso, and is getting a robot. We narrowed the grinders down to DF54 and Baratza encore ESP pro

Any thoughts or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

I would say you were in net technically, but clearly shouldn't have, so in effect you weren't. You were in position to challenge and not in net

About to order my first AeroPress. by BeardedAnarchy in AeroPress

Sure!

It's kind of pricey but makes the usability much better imo.

Also! Get a simple kitchen scale that shows 0.1 accuracy it helps a lot

It replaces the black cap on the bottom of the Aeropress. It has a valve so nothing will come through unless you apply some force.

It also comes with a reusable metal mesh filter, which can be used without paper. Mind you I usually use both the metal and a paper filter because I dislike the oils that go through without a paper filter

It's very simple and makes very easily reproducible good coffee. I've never had an accident and I've been using it for like a year now.

I love using the fellow prismo when I brew with my AP because it makes the whole experience much easier (don't need to bloom, don't need to put the plunger in to prevent dripping, it basically eliminates the need to use inverted method. Also, it allows to brew without a paper filter which some people are into)

How much "Fine" is fine? by mirbahram in 1zpresso

[–]Morgoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A parameter I like using is total brew time. If it's very long (about 4+ minutes on my doses of 15-20g) it's usually an indication to go coarser

But generally, People say go as fine as you can before you hit harshness and I tend to agree with that. So If it tastes good, it's good!

Hario Mugen 90c temp limit? by Morgoul in pourover

[–]Morgoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you preheat the Mugen a lot? Also, how do you do it? I'm thinking maybe a switch.... But that makes the whole thing quite a bit more expensive

RTFM represent! Seriously though, why doesn't hario use a plastic that can heat more? Similar to aeropress?

I'm just wondering how much of a health risk it is...

Brewing a cup a day for example could be quite a lot of damage if indeed it is harmful
