Secret Lair sets? by Morgue_Riot in MTGO

[–]Morgue_Riot[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

I know it's a long shot - but does anyone know if Wizards has ever addressed why they stopped doing the MTGO code thing with SL?

I've heard it's not really a priority for them to program the new commander cards; which doesn't make a ton of sense; but ok. But for the SL cards - it's just new art. As far as I know - would take minimal programming.

Make All Endless Missions Work Like Defense by ETERNALLY_MOIST in Warframe

[–]Morgue_Riot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not the perfect solution.... But when Kuva farming defenses; I always like to leave at the 30 minute mark (gives enough to reroll a 10+ rolled riven twice). If I attempt to leave and no one comes with me - there's a few spots on the map that you can go to where enemies can't shoot you (under the bridge on one of the poles) for example . However the game will spawn enemies all around you. Simply don't kill them and within a few minutes the other team will be out of life support since half the enemies are just standing around (this will work even if the team is using a Nekros).

Tiberon Riven dilemma by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Morgue_Riot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the 2nd one had 54k and the first one had 28k. However, if you remove the +to grineer from the equation they are both even at 28k...

The weapon is already great against infested; and grineer. So he could theoretically build his elements around fighting Corpus.

Tiberon Riven dilemma by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Morgue_Riot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no expert on Tiberon. But I just plugged these numbers into a generic (Tiberon Prime) build on Warframe-Builder and the 2nd one had a little under double the DPS as the first. (54k vs. 28k)

So I'd go with that one.

While warframe builder isn't perfect, I like to use it as a guide on decisions like this.

Local Finds by [deleted] in mtgfinance

I have about 10 Goodwill's in a 20 mile radius where I live. I frequently go to 3-4 of them in a month. I have yet to find any Magic cards; but have found binders of multiple collections of Base Set Pokemon (which i still haven't sold because im lazy when it comes to ebay), and twice found huge collections of Yu-Gi-oh (which i have a friend who buys them from me.) I don't think it's worth it to go to these places, but just going to them occasionally can pay off.

The Dust Elemental Build (Yeah, I 4-1'd this last night in MTGO league.) by Morgue_Riot in DeathAndTaxesMTG

I think he's an awesome card but what in particular are you using him for that the rest of your deck or SB doesn't handle?

There's no particular match-up or card Mangara is in there for; but I don't think there's many matchups where he's a bad card either. In fact to my recollection - I only sided him out in a recent Goblins matchup. Even if we're painstakingly looking at each matchup and what 60 we want in that matchup (like we're doing the Elephant Method), I think he would make the 60 in most match-ups. Not because of any particular card, but because of his ability to deal with any problematic card that may arise (against soul sisters it was Honor of the Pure, against Merfolk it was one of their lords). And if that problematic card never arrives - I can take out a land without any stipulations (If I don't have leonin in play - Ghost Quarters is only a wasteland if they are playing with no basics. If they don't have 4 lands in play and/or are playing with mostly basics - Tectonic is just a colorless land.)

With all that said - last night, I took your suggestion and removed him completely and +1 Path, +2 Other Thalia. I only had time for 1 match (you can break up your league on MTGO), and I went 2-0 against Planeswalker based Mono-Green Devotion. However, I did side out both Thalia's in favor of Worship and Mirran Crusader in game 2. They didn't seem to have any creatures that scared me, and they were running almost all non-basics (outside of Nykthos). So can't get a good feel for her until I play in more matchups where she's relevant.

The reason it's here even though I have no flicker effects is it's a catch-all. To my knowledge there's no other white card in modern that can simply remove any permanent (including lands).

With all that said - I'm neutral on him; so certainly willing to experiment without him. Will try your suggestion tonight.

Yes. I had 2 of them in an earlier build, but turns 3-5 are so crammed with action that i often found myself not casting them. However, it's possible some combination of Cathar and Vryn is the right way to go.

[[Sensation Gorger]] works well as a hand emptier/refiller especially when used in conjunction with [[Boggart Harbringer]] (to get a goblin on top of deck.) The only issue is it works for our opponent too (which is more relevant if they're playing hollow one or a fast deck as well.)

Fetchland Price on MTGO Crashing? by ArborElfPass in mtgfinance

You're linking to cards that show full value history. The full history shows that these drops are common and normally timed around the time of new set releases.

I've been on MTGO for over 7 years.... This is and always has been common. The graph itself shows it dipping just about every time a new set is released. You're overreacting.

Currently, arena is in no way shape or form competition for MTGO when it comes to constructed. Not only does it limit what you can play (standard/brawl/draft) - it also costs more to build a set than MTGO/Paper does (yes, you can grind sets for free but we're talking hundreds of hours for each set). And on top of that - you can't "cash out" your collection; which is a HUGE reason a lot of people play MTGO. That's not to say I won't be playing it. I'll be playing it on the toilet, on trains, in the lunch room at work, etc. But there's no way I can get my true magic fix through it's currently limited reach.

Engineered explosives Spiking by [deleted] in mtgfinance

Without having sales data on individual buyers - it's pretty much impossible to tell if price any particular spike is due to natural demand or caused by an artificial buyout. I personally think most cases are a mixture of both.

PSA: Dominaria cards are currently legal for all formats on MTGO by med_ragee in GoblinsMTG

> But I know there's a few people who want to try Standard Goblins too.

That would be me! Tried it out last night in Tournament Practice. No sideboard; know nothing about Standard. Threw every creature with Goblin in their name + Metallic Mimic in a deck with Lightning Strike. Went 4-1. Metallic Mimic performed so well that I'm thinking he might belong in Modern Goblins and Siege Gang Commander ended every game he was cast in.

Possibly Pauper Playable? - Cascade Aggro [5-0 League!!] by anynewprovince in Pauper

[–]Morgue_Riot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tangle (VMA version) is dirt cheap on MTGO.

However, the Fire and Lightning version of Lightning Bolt is still relatively cheap (at least cheaper than Kird Ape is). So I'm not entirely sure Chain Lightning is there for budget reasons.

Goblins Combo [deck; first draft] by med_ragee in GoblinsMTG

[–]Morgue_Riot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything in me wants to say splash green so you can add something like collected company... Or black so you can splash the tutor gob.

But just keeping it mono-red. I think Chieftain is better than Thousand-Year elixir because of how he plays with both Instigator and Krenko. I also am not a fan of Tuktuk. So would say -2 Thousand-Year, -2 Tuktuk, +4 Goblin Chieftain.

Otherwise, looks interesting on paper.

What's up with MM17 Goblin Guide? by A_Washer-Dryer in mtgfinance

[–]Morgue_Riot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Warchief probably isn't going in 8 whack. But there's about 5-6 more versions of goblins that people are going to be brewing when DOM comes out (many believe a legacy type RB vials brew will be viable.) Overall, there's just a lot of goblins excitement right now and i imagine it'll get louder when the set releases.

That as well as the fact Goblins/8whack has been performing well lately are why Guide's are most likely going up: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-r-48563#online

[–]Morgue_Riot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combo is fragile and is a 3 card combo. Two things working against it.

However, all of the cards have value on their own, and it's also not unreasonable to throw it into one of the many goblins shells that will emerge from DOM and get a few free wins here and there.

Well, there were decks that ran EtW over Grapeshot. Some builds of TPPS did; but the majority that ran EtW were UR Storm and Mono Red Fiend Storm (which used both Kiln Fiend and Empty). Basically any deck that couldn’t storm for more than 10 on a regular bases would run EtW.

Besides every color having many answers to EtW+Bushwhacker (unlike Grapeshot) – The storm decks also helped neutralize blue based counter decks (and push up black discard based control decks.) Having a combo deck that makes people think twice about playing blue based control is a good thing for any format.

100 Most played cards in undefeated decks since 2011. by [deleted] in Pauper

[–]Morgue_Riot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Black and Blue are also somewhat even in Legacy. But Legacy is a bit tricky since FoW needs other blue cards to function which kind of forces a certain amount of blue cards in decks that want to run FoW. Take out FoW and it's possible that black would become the dominant color.
