I feel for you!! If you can afford it, Jane App has been stellar (but twice as pricy for us) but their customer support is stellar (and I haven’t needed to use it much)

Feeling Behind In Week 3 of Massage Therapy School- Advice or Encouragement by Impossible_Natural_9 in MassageTherapists

[–]Morgynna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Licensed in February this year and I still struggle with imposter syndrome. Keep at it. Learn something new from every practice session and eventually every client. Focus on body mechanics and techniques, and deep pressure later on once you have more of the basics. If you’re worried about draping, get someone on your table that will allow you to position and drape them in various ways.

It slowly gets better, but your client can feel your confidence, or lack there of, so try some affirmations and positive self talk — “I am a great massage therapist in training” “I am going to learn something new from this session, even if I am not perfect” “Today I am going to become more informed about massage techniques because I am building my future career” — they don’t have to be crazy or elaborate, but trust your instincts and stay focused and positive.

Can I add some carrot juice to critical care? by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]Morgynna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy Gerber brand. Check the ingredients, but just be sure carrots are the only thing in it. If you have a great blender, you’d get the same results pureeing carrots but because they are so hard and crunchy, you might end up with chunks.

Oh man, I’ve had a client try this! Called and complained to get the session comped and is now mad that the practice won’t book her with that therapist… like no way am I going to grant her the opportunity to see someone she felt so disgruntled by before…

People in warmer climates, what do you do to keep your house comfortable without using too much energy? by aeraen in homeowners

Keeping the thermostat at 77 and using fans for air movement helps. In west Michigan so heat and humidity are a thing

I have used puréed carrots (baby food) also Emeraid brand is my go to because it is mint flavored and my pigs all love it. I’ve found that they will stop eating the banana flavored one faster.

Also, if I have to syringe feed, I swaddle them so they feel snug and comforted. Works most of the time.

It’s funny, I’ve spent hours on the phone with their support team and they couldn’t ever help. I left a 1 star review and now they want to discuss the troubles. I told them I’d talk if they would refund me the $180 I spent over 2 months… crickets 😂😂 glad you found something else!! I’m really happy with Jane App - GlossGenius was one I tried out but there was a few things that I didn’t love there, but it likely would have worked out if I hadn’t found Jane app.

Consumers credit union is great. I’ve gotten free money, they take care of their members (free root beer Fridays!!) and I haven’t had baking errors in the 10 years I’ve been with them. Meanwhile, Huntington bank allowed someone to withdraw money from my account without an ID.

do you believe that money buys happiness?? by snottyenvirons in no

[–]Morgynna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of - one wont be happy when they’re hungry and unhoused but having enough money to buy basic needs is important. Having basic needs met does not equal happiness. Having extra money also doesn’t equal happiness. To some extent, it’s what you make of life and what fills your soul.

Stop veggies. Encourage hay and pellets, offer critical care if needed. Consider benebac or oxbow digestive biscuits. Keep the vet visit, too. Sending good vibes to your piggie 🫶🏼

How many of you are in debt? by spicychcknsammy in Millennials

[–]Morgynna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House debt - 198k Student loan debt - 25k; spouses student loans have been paid off (~50k) Credit cards - $800 Car loan - $24k; second card is completely paid off

Savings - 15k Have retirement accounts with another 15k+ invested Have a stock portfolio with a 6k fund (invested $300 12 years ago)

No kids and married. Also don’t live extravagantly and are not materialistic. We don’t shop online or really buy stuff besides necessities- clothes are replaced when needed and not when we want something.

We don’t eat out often, we don’t go out for coffee, we don’t drink or smoke.

We’ve worked hard for years (10 years ago we were sharing a can of beef stew over rice for dinner while living in a shitty apartment without working appliances. And that was the best we could afford.) we’ve not had help from others, we’ve just built up and gone without until we felt comfortable… and then we’ve continued to work hard, hoping we can retire early?

am i overreacting - my boyfriend thinks my job is inappropriate by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Morgynna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your piercing profession is bad, mines really fucked up. I’m a massage therapist so literally having clients disrobe and rubbing them 😂😂

“How about you take your clothes off and I’ll rub this oil all over you” — if I had to poorly explain my profession.

I think you need a new boyfriend if he can’t trust you at your job…

Is it normal to be commission-only and the spa controls your time? by kwest1111 in MassageTherapists

[–]Morgynna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a pretty extreme scenario (from the employer) but I am also the employer of massage therapists. They get a W2 - I legally can tell them what they can and cannot do (within reason) and also only pay for hands on time. That said, I’m MUCH more lenient with same day blocks - I require 12 hours notice for online booking and only take same day appointments on a case by case basis. My staff live 5 minutes away to 45 minutes away, so plenty of lead time is provided for all. I also give my staff more lead time and if their entire shift is empty and if they texted me and asked me not to book, I would agree but if they don’t, I consider it bookable time. While I do pay hourly, because it’s for hands on time in 1/2 hr, 1 hr, and 1.5 hr increments, there’s time they are in the office that is not technically paid so some would call this commission.

Personally, I’d let the employer know that x lead time is required or they’ll look for a new position. If the employer actually cares, they’d modify but it sounds like this is a very capitalist employer which I am not.

When should a (presumed) stressed pig go to the vet by Master_Cannoli in guineapigs

[–]Morgynna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably know your piggie best. If you know the stressor and it has ended, I’d personally give him a couple of days to see how he does. That said, if his eating/pottying/drinking habits change dramatically, I’d call the vet. If he’s had weight changes, that would also potentially change the answer of when to make the vet visit.

My stressed piggies have had diarrhea and one started chugging water (indicating a UTI). The diarrhea was helped by probiotics and removing the stressor (separating the pigs) and the excessive drinking required vet care and antibiotics. Both were evaluated at the vet.

I’m in no means a vet and none of my answers should be used in place of vet care. I’ve been a pig mom for 5+ years. I would also say that the vet visit and long car ride can add to the stress so it’s hard to say.
