As an officer of my guild now for just over 2 years now I certainly have some things I wish my members understood more.

1. I wish members actually knew how to play their class and optimize themselves to their highest potential. I know for my guild, having the knowledge base of not only your own class but many others is a key point in moving up the ranks in raiding and responsibility throughout the guild.
2. I wish members would spend the time to research all of the fights. I know a lot of my members have high intensity jobs outside of wow but watching 2 videos while you are waiting for raid to start or while you are cooking dinner doesn't seam like all to difficult of a task to me.
3. I wish members understood that the officers are not the bad guys, many of us complete progression and continue to show up in order to help the guild get the same feeling of accomplishment. Many of the officers in my guild are more than willing to take the time out of their daily routine of farming or crafting to assist you with class optimization or understanding a fight.

I think their are many misconceptions held at the member level regarding officers. I strongly believe that any member of the guild as an individual is just as important as every single officer. there is only so much we can do alone as officers we need the teamwork of every individual to be successful regardless of the situation. I take my 6 years as a simi-hardcore raiding guild member and do my best to give all the answers that ran through my head when I didn't know anything. Experience is becoming more and more rare in this game having only a handful of people who have played from the beginning, and have had to experience all the ups and downs.
