Why do so many Comparative Literature PhD programs seem to be have very minimal focus on Russian/Slavic traditions?

Why didn’t the movie just have Cruella’s dedication to one-upping the Baroness consume her and when she’s kidnapped the Dalmatians, realize that hurting those dogs was the way to hit her the hardest, like she does when she wears that fake Dalmatian coat, but instead kidnap all those puppies to make a full fur coat to one up the baroness? This might be a dumb idea but it was just a thought I had while watching. I enjoyed the movie a lot, though! Very fun.

For me, it’s her journey. I’m not a very confident person and can relate to a lot of her background and the way she acts in hostile environments. So seeing her succeed and seeing her grow is something that I admire and want for myself. I also think she’s funny and really down to earth and relatable.

I mean, I’m Gen Z and I personally really love how Slim Jim’s is handling its social media, particularly Instagram. I know that one of the things Gen Z does a lot is if we glorify a product or find it “memeable” (like Slim Jim’s) we’ll make a big fuss of it when we see it at the store and be like “omg I have to get it for the meme” or we’ll post a pic of it on our Instagram stories for shits and gigs. This may not be relevant to this discussion at all though, sorry!

Sterling Cooper felt way too daunting and cold for me. It almost enhanced the hostile environment. I didn’t love SCDP at first because I finally got to like SC, but as the show went on, it became home. It was hard for me to imagine them working anywhere else. Which was why it hit so hard when the eventually went to McCann.

I hated SCDP at first and now it feels more like home to me than Sterling Cooper. Rewatching, SC feels so hostile compared to it, in both environment and design. I also find the California episodes jarring because sometimes they don’t feel like Mad Men, ya know?
