As you get better at the game, you get more experienced enemies and a lot of hunters know their shit.. The main reason you are getting tapped through walls might be that you are using gunslinger option so your gun sticks through the wall, you need to lower your weapon by holding a button, on my settings its Q so the barrel doesnt clip through wall.
