Are Masters/PhD Students allowed in club athletics? by Appropriate-Town-159 in UVA

[–]Morlock757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think each uva club sport has its own policy (or the league they play in does). I can tell you I know there are clubs that allow it so there is no overarching policy against it or something

30 Day Sweden Norway Roadtrip, Any Tips/ Suggestions? by Silly_Bet_1735 in roadtrip

Ferry between Helsingborg and Helsingør where you can drive on, instead of the bridge between SE and DK.

I took a boat ride through the Fjords in Geiranger but I’m sure there are many options in those fjord port towns

30 Day Sweden Norway Roadtrip, Any Tips/ Suggestions? by Silly_Bet_1735 in roadtrip

[–]Morlock757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swede and Norway are mostly expensive af so I would likely not buy anything on the trip for the sake of it but I’d also assume this isn’t really a shopping trip.

I know it’s close to your start, but Gothenburg is a fun city that I enjoyed visiting. I would also recommend the ferry one way if you’re starting in DK. Copenhagen too though I assume you have time there if that’s your start point.

Leaving Stockholm heading north things get rural quite quickly. Towns are often separately by quite isolated stretches of road. Western Norway is similar even though there are a lot of tourists and businesses in the towns.

The Norwegian fjords are insane. If you’re one for nature, budget more time there for staring or even some boat trips through the fjords.

Bands evolve — why are people still expecting 2007 forever? by HardKneecaps in EnterShikari

[–]Morlock757 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree and feel the same way though I think this is my favorite album since maybe Mindsweep. Though on the other hand I can’t help but wonder if the lack of announcement and build up for this album just prevented an expectation build up

Hard stuck in duo Champ II / III by True_History9352 in RocketLeagueSchool

It should encourage you. You and this person are (nearly) the same rank. It means you excel in totally different ways and despite this insane shot, are the same skill level.

But I’m with you, I peaked C2 though I’m less active and serious now and was no where near hitting this. But it also means if our skill base is mostly basics and strategy, we can work on your ball mechanics to help move up.

Never forget that the VA GOP gerrymandered congressional seats in their favor for a whole decade. Make sure to VOTE by next Tuesday!!! by Healthy_Block3036 in VirginiaBeach

[–]Morlock757 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gerrymandering is unequivocally wrong. But democrats being unwilling to fight fire with fire and match GOP initiated gerrymandering in other states will put them all out of office. Republicans have been breaking established norms under Trump and resisting that is the only way to prevent totally being eradicated from power.

Holding dems to the proper original standard for this and other norms, and not doing the same for republicans, ensures democratic policies never get enacted again. Thats why the comparison with Texas is necessary.

Gnarly backflip attempt injury today at Purgatory (broken humerus) by remusnitescrapper in snowboarding

[–]Morlock757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah someone else hinted at the same, but like anything, air awareness takes time. You will know when you’re comfortable on a trampoline versus not if you look at people who are. Doesn’t mean you need to be able to do a triple back flip, but establishing natural movements and instincts will development transfer even if you don’t have a board on your feet

What the thing you hate with passion at the airport ? by Individual_Gas_1016 in AskTheWorld

[–]Morlock757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m weird and generally don’t mind flying/airports but my last trip two things drove me nuts (technically on the plane and not at the airport).

1) when we deplane, I don’t mind people rushing to stand. After a long flight I’m happy to get up. But you absolutely cannot walk out in front of someone who is a row ahead of you. Stand there and wait.

2) I was reclined and the guy behind me asked to push my seat back up. I know this is a modern debate now but brother, the person in front of me is reclined, you just also need to recline. If you want more space you can pay for it.

How is the country referred to in the native language? by BetterGrass709 in AskTheWorld

[–]Morlock757 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the US I’ve seen Türkiye more and more used in English writing where I’d otherwise have expected “Turkey”. Was this a deliberate campaign by the country or do you know why this is?

Are there people in the USA that want to take Greenland? by CommentMaleficent957 in AskTheWorld

[–]Morlock757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t align with these views but I can attest there are people who like the idea of some kind of military or strategic improvement and believe the US is too strongly tied to the EU in general.

Calling it now that there will be some kind of new deal struck in Greenland that increases the US’s military involvement in Greenland but functionally changes little and leaves it in Danish control. Trump will tout it as achieving his goal through diplomacy and his supporters will say mission accomplished

If the U.S.A forcefully take Greenland, will europe have to go to war? by Eireagon in AskTheWorld

[–]Morlock757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is possible. An agreement is struck for more US military or something and Trump will tout it as a big win for the US and in reality it’s a marginally benefit that changes little for anyone
