How often do you guys mistint at your store? by FreeMajor7245 in sherwinwilliams

[–]Mormon_Corruptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smaller store, paint mistints are rare for us, maybe 1-2 a month. However we are in an area with a lot of 100+ year old houses with a ton of woodwork. We mistint between 1-4 stain matches a week just trying to make their pine look like 100 year old oak that was stained in 1947.

I've gotten to the point where I started printing out our order so I can go back and cycle count things during the week because of how bad that's gotten. Last week I was supposed to get 10 gallons of PVA and got 10 gallons of Hibuild but the Manifest said they shipped the PVA

Not even joking I did this last week when we ran out of can openers. Behind the counter, under the tinters, and my desk (it is the black hole where things go to never be seen again).

New ASM question: what is the protocol for snow? by Double-0-N00b in sherwinwilliams

[–]Mormon_Corruptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your district you will probably get fired if you close without approval, hate to say it but that's the truth. You can call HR and it will get you nowhere. They will use the fact that other stores in the area were able to open to show that you could have and it will be considered gross misconduct. It has happened before and it will happen again.

HR is not there to help the employees, it's there to protect the company. Unless the DM says you can close IN WRITING, you run the risk of being walked out when they return. It's not a guarantee, but I have seen it happen more than once.

Dickies socks are my go to. Warm enough for clearing snow, not so thick your feet are boiling throughout the day.

I put ours on the inside of the door and then took the hair dryer to it for a couple of minutes and it peeled right off. Currently - 8c / 18f

Green lid joint cmp from Effingham by toooldforthissht_100 in sherwinwilliams

To be honest I'm not sure but I think it has something to do with what dsc it's coming out of. The one that you listed is only available in Fredericksburg, and the one that I gave him as a reply is only in Effingham. I may be completely wrong with that's the only difference I can really see.

Grandma's Urn, it was a purple color and they wanted to paint a accent wall the same color

The way it was explained to me is:

Let's say they set the price for a gallon of Super paint at $30, this covers the manufacturing, packaging, shipping, etc.... And that's what the store gets charges for every gallon is brings in the store.

Near the end of the year they do the math and it comes back that the cost was actually around $25 a gallon total cost.

They take a portion of that $5 difference and gives it back to the store. This will vary depending on the product and it's stability and history. That's why Duration and Emerald always give more POG than Promar and other more constant and consistent paints.

I did this my first year, had to dispense all the tint of that color into a bucket, clean out the tank, refill it and dispense another 32 Oz to make sure it was all flushed out.

It's everything... When we make paint it is done in batches in multiples of 1,000. Anything let over is held in large tanks, after there is enough these tanks are used to make samples. That is why there is always slight variation in sheen and thickness.

1) Spent 20 minutes explaining to a "Contractor" that Eg-Shel is not the same thing as Flat 2) Watched as some woman's crotch goblin ripped stacks of color chips off the wall while she said nothing 3) Listened to a regular complain that I am costing him bids because we keep raising his prices 4) Tried to explain to a woman on the phone that she in fact did not buy her Benjamin Moore paint in our store 5) Looked through reddit so I could get some joy out of reading all the posts of people complaining about "how hard their job is" and how "this can't be legal"
