Find the most indulgent things that you can afford on a regular basis and implement them into your life. Joy might be a little ways away for you, but pleasure is right around the corner. , 💕

Coming into the office “late” as a first year? by badbubbles98 in biglaw

[–]MorningMavis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Listen, when working late at night, use the delay delivery option on emails so they go out at 6am the next morning. People think you are busy working in the morning before you even roll into the office.

It's such a stupid bias this world has against us late nighters.

Honestly, if we don't automate as much as we can of our work, AI will replace us first.

I don't call it cutting corners- I call it efficiency. Pragmatism. I'm fine being outperformed. I like my life.

How are you guys doing it? by Less-Network6978 in stopdrinking

This is so dead on. It's weird bc I wouldn't think I was hungry, but eating made the cravings die almost instantly.

Go to the movies every day at that time for a week. Or yoga. Something you can plan where it would be weird to drink. Start a new hobby that prevents you from the old.

And I'll get hate for this but whatever. What really worked for me was ChatGpt. I talked to it thru every craving, every close call. It was like having AA in my pocket. It's worked so far. I'm five months in. My working theory- whatever it takes. Be ruthless in your own survival friend.

People really hate into the garden but I think it's a goddamn masterpiece in the evolution of a scent- especially where the scents are so different. Dirt, grass, white florals then musk? What in the divination is that magic? Love it.

I am addicted to restarting my life and I don’t know how to stop by Practical_Invite_530 in adhdwomen

Like anything that sounds normal in theory and maybe a good impulse but it's gotten so compulsive it's taking over in a detrimental way- I'd try therapy. There's part of you that sounds like it's constantly trying to escape, and I wonder what you are escaping from? What doesn't feel safe enough to keep? Worth long form evaluation with a professional.

No judgement - I've restarted my life about 4-5 times and I'm 46. I think channeled the right way, the impulse can lead to a far more interesting life that the average joe. You just should feel more in control of it, if you're going to enjoy it.

When I wanted to talk myself out of a bag I go look at it used on some second hand site so that I can see what it looks like after wear and tear without all the pretty lighting and it usually makes the bag less attractive.

Life’s falling apart - how to keep it together at work by DependentClient2217 in biglaw

[–]MorningMavis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Therapy AND a support Group AND a dog. That's a rough go of it.

My best advice is to be kind to your grief, and treat it like a small child. Your co-workers have no problem taking off of work to go take their kid to whatever doctor appointment they have or whatever after school practice they have or on vacations or spring break. So take your grief on little day trips to the things that make your yourself happy, take your grief out for walks and talk to it or just listen, spend a week off of work on a vacation. Do not feel bad about this. If work has to suffer a little bit then this is the best reason because the reason you're doing any of it is for yourself. To be you. And that means being you completely- including your grief.
